I'm at DL right now, staying at the Grand Californian, DVC, from 10/25-28. I have an Imagine Magic Key. Prior to arrival, I had park reservations for the 25th and 27th. After using my first reservation, I tried to make a reservation for the 26th through the app on my phone. First I tried making it with my MK and the date was sold out. Then I tried to access the availability calendar through my resort reservation and I got an "access denied" message. I tried with WiFi and with cellular, no luck. This effort was doing nothing but burning battery on my phone. I went to Guest Relations at City Hall, 2 CMs there had never seen my problem before. But the most frustrating thing was that they denied that there is a separate pool of park availability for hotel guests! I know they're wrong because we've used it--my son and family couldn't get a MK reservation for the 26th but it was wide open through the hotel reservation. The CM said there's only day ticket availability and MK availability, no such thing as hotel availability. I wanted to scream! When I left City Hall I texted my son, who was at home, and asked him to make the park reservation for me...and he did, no problem, through the hotel reservation.
Today, same thing. After I tapped in for today's park reservation I wanted to make one for Thurs. the 28th; "Access Denied." I went to GR at DCA, they never heard of my issue and suggested I try the ticket booth or my hotel. At least they didn't deny that there's a separate calendar for hotel guests. Back at the Grand Californian, Guest Services is not staffed. I really really don't think the ticket booth can help me and I hate to waste more time with them. In the meantime I came back to my room and was able to make the reservation on my laptop, through my hotel reservation (and yes, the day is sold out on the MK calendar). I just tried deleting and reinstalling the DL app, still no luck.
Has anyone else ever had this super frustrating experience and if so, how'd you fix it?

Making a park reservation through the app linked to a hotel reservation never worked for me in July either. Had to use a desktop.

If your cell phone uses Chrome, you can click on a setting in Chrome that says "desktop version" and it will launch the full Disneyland site that way. It's the only way I could get it to work.

ETA: we obviously didn't have magic keys, but we had purchased 5 day hoppers that were linked to my account and I couldn't use the app to unlock the hotel bucket.

Thank you! My iPhone uses Safari but I found a desktop setting on it and I do believe it works! Can't tell for sure because I'm maxed out on park reservations right now but it seemed to take me to the right place. Relieved to know there's hope!

Awesome! I've had to use that desktop version hack more than I'd like when trying to do things at Disneyland and WDW.
