Today I gave away a Tron costume to a girl. I had talked to her about trading it to her a few days ago. She really didn't have anything I wanted but she was just so excited to have someone talk to her about trading it, that I said I would trade it for a buyable chair; but that day her internet was so slow it wouldn't let us trade. Over the next couple of days she sent me many messages reminding me about the trade but we were just never on at the same time. She never asked for it for free, but she just didn't want to let her only bite on the tron suit get away. I can't really blame her at all, I've been there before. LOL

Anyway, today after getting about 4-5 more in game reminder messages, I finally met up with her in the game, she was so excited, I just didn't have the heart to take her chair. I tried to be quite about it and not say anything to the rest of the room, but she was so excited she let the cat out of the bag. I told her in the future she should just do something nice for someone else.

Right away I got about 3-5 request for free stuff from the rest of the room.
Gee, color me surprised-- not. But it was worth it to see the happiest on that one girl. I felt pretty good the rest of the day. woot.

Yes Cat, I feel your pain It is great to do something nice for someone. But when they announce it to the room...well you found out.

once in a while i give stuff away. i try to be anonymous and then run away very fast after the gifting because i know that a lot of people beg and beg for stuff.

it's nice giving stuff away. maybe it'll make up for the scamming that goes on in vmk...

Recently someone on these boards did that for me. I was SO very excited to get something I have always wanted but just couldn't obtain. I did try not to say anything in lobby to start the "landslide". That same day (I know it's not as big of a help but...) I saw someone searching and searching for a hidden mickey. I told them where it was and when they offered to give me something in return I just said try to pay it forward. Wouldn't it be nice if a giving attitude spread back out over VMK?

That is why I would do a "unfair to me" trade...not a free trade. I think I just traded a crown or something for some everest teleporters and track...the person was nice enough and I am sure those crowns are coming back at Halloween anyway. So she got a good deal and teleporters are useful (yes I made her let me test them before I completed the entire trade because I have been burned on that!).

Yeah, today I had a mini-quest going on in my room twice. Just as the second one ended a girl came in who was pretty much a new player as she only had the basics and asked questions like a new player (unless this mule was a good actor). She asked how come the quest wasn't open and I had to tell her that it just ended. Everybody else in the room had won something and they were talking about it, so I felt kind of bad. I waited a bit, talking to her, hoping she wouldn't leave. And she didn't. But she did ask if I was going to open the quest again, or if I could just for her to try. After the room was pretty sparse, I opened a traded window with her and gave her a churro pin since I really didn't want to open the quest again just for her and I felt bad that she was the only person in the room who hadn't won anything. Again, from her reaction, she must've been new (unless she really could act). She must've thanked me like 20 times. Lol! It always feels great to do some random act of generosity. ^_^
