Well I got home from shopping today and there was a message the local paper. The were calling about the fox shot on my property. that some of my neighbors are extreemly upset about it. I was going to call her back but my husband said I had better let him handle it. I REALLY wanted to defend myself and tell my side of the story but Jay said you don't get into a pissing contest with a skunk, that things could be twisted. He called her very professionally and said that he is not interested in being quoted in the paper or part of her article , that he is happy to discuss things off the record with her. She wanted nothing to do with off the record so he asked if she spoke with the police. she said yes. "than you know the situation" he said, "we had a fox it became a problem, the police were called, they determined it was aggressive and it was destroyed. He then said I gave you the courtesy of returning your call but that is all I have to say. She was not happy.
I wanted to yell out that the guy who called her is a hypocrate hunter and that the fox was threatening us but deferred to Jay. This is making me physically ill. I have preschool graduation tomorrow and don't know HOW I am going to be happy around the kidlins. :(

Oh Ann, I'm so sorry :( I missed your original story I think, so I don't know what happened, but it wasn't one of the baby foxes was it?

I think it sounds just awful..... Plenty of Pixie Dust coming your way...

Ann, you did the right thing to begin with and your husband did really well with the reporter. Best thing is to let it pass. The neighbors are not worth you being upset. They will have the opportunity to make fools of themselves over it, you don't need to do anything and it will go away.

Sorry you are having such a bad time, but wild animals are just that, and your first responsibility is to your family and their safety. Lots of feel better PD for you, OK?

When the real facts come out both your neighbors and the newspaper writer will look like fools. {{hugs}}

yes it was one of the kitts, they are just about full grown now. All the other kitts have left except the one who is now deceased. He became very bold over the past week and aggressive, the long and short of it he was destoyed on Thursday. The neighbors are in an uproar (basically because they dislike us-long story) and want the police officer fired and us in trouble..:(

Ann, are they going to test the fox for rabis?

I sure hope so, it smelled like a skunk which is a rabies carrier. They took the body away (the neighbor filmed it,, what did he think we would cover it up? we called the board of health!) I don't know but I would assume they have to,, boy it would be GREAT if it turned out rabid..not that I want rabies in my yard but then they would shut up and go away......Man I am SO depressed
