It is possible for a spider to survive the vacuum?

Had to vacuum 2 icky spiders from the ceiling last night. Just wondering, does the suction immediately kill them? Or do they have a chance of surviving and crawling back out?

I just vacuumed up a big ole roach that my son found in the bathroom. (Rained big time last night). So I hope they don't come out either.

Funny you should ask...I just vacuumed one off the ceiling about an hour ago...a BIIIIGG spider...and I keep looking at the end of the hose to see if it's coming back out. I have a Dyson, and it's clear, and I don't see it in there!

Not only can they survive the vacuum they can also survive going down the drain. The only way to really get them is to squash them. This is on my DH's chore list .

LOL! That's what I was going to say.

Years ago, I think there was an episode of "Night Gallery" where the guy kept rinsing a spider down the drain and it came back up bigger and bigger and bigger !

Once I suck them up I leave the vacuum running to make darned sure they choke to death. Sorry, I am sure that is not pc to some people, but that is how I handle it.

Duct Tape People, duct tape. Tape over the hose opening until your DSK (Designated Spider Killer) arrives home to change the bag, or empty the canister.

I'll be buying some of that new clear duct tape, so I can tape the end of the vacuum hose and SEE if the little suckers try to escape. I know, that's a little sick, isn't it?

Aren't roaches the ones that could survive a nuclear attack? If so, I wouldn't put much hope in the vacuum cleaner!

I also hear that they are pretty good with electric circuits, so if you hear that vacuum start up in the middle of the night!!!!

OMG I hope not - as you can see from my tag I am not very thrilled about big spiders. The other day I was vaccuuming and all of a sudden this HUGE BLACK SPIDER came crawling out of the base board , so naturally I sucked him up. Then I thought to myself "OMG, what happens if he crawls out of there and crawls to somewhere I really don't want him to be, like in my bed SCARY!!!!!!

So I have been on the look out for him every since w/ a big shoe waiting to squish him!!!!

I live in SW Florida and we know from bugs and it is the greatest thing for sucking up those pests. Do you want to know what's really amazing thing about the "bug vacuum"? It's got a mesh at the end of the tube that's electrified, so not only do you suck up the bug, you electrocute it. Take off the tube and flush the carcass down the toilet.

Walmart.com sells it for about $50 and it is terrific.
