The c**p in the basement had reached DEFCON 1 so we had a yard sale on Saturday. There was certainly some nice baby stuff, but mostly it was c**P. I stood in awe as people lined up to hand me cash for this stuff. The best part was that the staff at the nursing home across the street was opening windows and yelling across the street to have us put stuff aside. The $236 we made will come in handy.

One person's c**p is another's treasure/needed item/collectable. I hope that's the case, because I too have a basement full of someone else's treasures....

I had a yard sale before my trip in Sept 07. I made almost $350 in spending money. I can't wait till I have another one, but I have to wait till I get a new house. The condo complex where I live now won't let me have one.

Perhaps if I can sell the condo and buy the new house before my Dec trip, I will have extra spending money.

we had the same thing happen a few weeks back - we made $317 that we'll be saving for our next disney trip - we'll use it to upgrade a 1 day ticket from free dining a couple years ago to a 10 day.

We have car boot sales in the UK - made $350 last month so that paid for my MNSSHP tickets and am going to do it all again on Sunday :goodvibes

Well done Jackie :thumbsup2

Last time I did a car boot sale was last year when I had plently of goods to get rid off. Don't think I would get anywhere close now :confused3

I'm getting ready to do both, ebay and rummage sale. Some things are just too good, or brand new, to sell in a rummage sale. It seems like people at rummage sales are interested in spending quarters, while those on Ebay will pay dollars. I like the extra $, while it's not usually very much, but it's better just to have all the unneeded stuff out of my house.

Wait...y'all just load up your crap into your car's trunk and sell it from there? :lmao: That's soooo sketchy in the United States, that's how people sell "hot" items, a.k.a. stolen stuff, well at least that's how it is in the movies, hahaha.

Please explain this more, because the thought of a nice English family acting like a bunch of hoodlums is making me LOL. Not insinuating you ARE hoodlums, of course, but i have never heard of this!!

ETA: thank you, Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_boot_sale

Car boot sales are a mainly British form of market in which private individuals come together to sell household and garden goods. The term refers to the selling of items from a car's boot (U.K.) (or trunk in the U.S.). Although a small proportion of sellers are professional traders selling new goods or seconds, the goods on sale are often used but no longer wanted personal possessions. Car boot sales are a way of focussing a large group of people in one place to recycle still useful but unwanted domestic items that previously would have been thrown away. Car boot sales generally take place within the summer months, however a growing trend of indoor boot sales and all year hard-standing outdoor boot sales are now appearing in some parts of the UK. Car boot sales are also very popular in parts of Australia, and have a growing presence in Europe.

Not exactly what i had pictured, more of a flea market than an individualized thing. i just had this picture in my head of a family rolling up to a corner and being all, "Pssssst...want some crap?" to a bunch of people on the street. It's 7 a.m. so i guess i'm a little loopy...
