It has come to this: Black market Girl Scout Cookies

I have two boxes for the low low price of $29.98 each, LOL.

Seriously, though, I bought boxes of girl scout cookies to give away this year and the raspberry ones had to be ordered online. I just got them earlier this week...haven't even opened them yet.

Saw the regular girl scout cookies for sale last weekend outside of our local grocery store. They were $5 each. Always looked at it as a donation since the cookies are never that good and each year see like fewer in the box. Can't recall ever having them sold online only, no idea why they decided to do that with the new raspberry ones. Wouldn't buy that flavor in either case since it doesn't sound appealing.

Thanks for the reminder! I just ordered mine. :)

The two neighborhood girls I always used to buy from have grown up, but I love the Troop 6000 program that serves girls in homeless shelters. (Because of shipping, this is only an option if you want at least 4 boxes, but I plan to share with M&FIL, so it works for me.)

If you need a new cookie source as well, click here to learn more:

and scroll down to about the middle of the page, where you'll see this:

* You can also donate boxes here (with no shipping cost) if you want to support the girls, but cookies aren't on your diet.

I haven’t seen the raspberry cookies, but would try them. My favorite is the classic Thin Mints. Bought some from a troop in front of a store a couple weeks ago. All the girls I used to buy them from have grown up. :o We always support Scouts, girl and boy, as our family was involved with both.

Yikes, that’s crazy! I have not tried the new raspberry ones & doubt I will. Keebler makes several types of cookies that are similar to Girl Scout cookies. We buy those when we are craving Girl Scout cookies. We also buy from Girl Scouts who come to our door 😋

I buy the knock-offs year-round from Walmart or Aldi's (not sure on the raspberry ones). Much cheaper. Then I donate to the troop selling cookies--100% of the money goes to the troop, versus a small percentage when they sell the overpriced cookies. We do this with the Boy Scouts, as well.
At least in our service unit, we are not allowed to keep the donations. We use the donation to buy cookies to send to troops or donate to hometown heroes. So I would double check that your donation is going where you would like it to.

Certain Girl Scout cookies such as Thin Mints are made in the same factory as Keebler cookies so that's why they taste similar. For half the price too.

Raspberry Rallies have caused a ton of drama this year. From online only (so you have to pay an exorbitant shipping of $13 flat rate) to selling out by 5pm on the first day they were available to my daughters counsel.

We have a dear friend who is mid chemo treatment who wanted a couple of boxes, so I set an alarm to order them early Monday morning when they became available. Thank goodness I did (plus I ordered my DH more crack, I mean Thin Mints). They arrived quickly but I haven’t heard if he liked them.

We (Girl Scouts and parents) tried them at a scout meeting in January and 90% were not impressed. The girls mostly thought they tasted like cotton candy, the adults said cherry cough syrup with chocolate. If you didn’t get any, I don’t think you missed much.

The raspberry ones are a huge disappointment at regular price, let alone at $30. Samoas remain the best followed by Tagalongs. The rest are Meh.
Flip the order 🍪👩‍🍳😄

Someone posted on FB that Aldi's sells a strawberry cookie that taste like the raspberry.

Yeah, we have serious issues with this type of behavior. We find the local offices to be very aggressive in prying donations out of the lowly troops. Both the Boy and Girl Scout organizations do this.

Back in the day (15 or so years ago), I was a co-leader of my oldest daughter's troop. The other co-leader worked for a company that made donations. She did all the paperwork and got $1000. For our poor, rural troop, this was a Godsend--we were able to buy vests and pay dues for the girls who couldn't afford it, and chip in for camping trips and a few other little things. When the council found out, they were livid--we were supposed to give the money to THEM--not waste it on poor girls who otherwise couldn't afford Scouting! Meanwhile, they had a big (professionally-made) sign up in their offices, bragging about how many hundreds of thousands of boxes of cookies "they" sold. It's part of what turned me off from volunteering with the Girl Scouts.

Someone at work brought in a box of Raspberry Rallies. I tried one, it was good. Wouldn't pay $30 for a box of them though.

Since they were such a hot seller I fully expect the cookie market to be flooded with knockoffs soon.
