It has always been my ABSOLUTE ambition to ride Rafiki's float (first float out) on Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade at Animal Kingdom. 2 weeks ago on our first wedding anniversary (the actual day), my DH and I were waiting around where the parade starts about half an hour before it was due to begin. We had a spot there last year and it was a great view. My mum and dad were with us, when suddenly one of the character minders came up to us and asked DH if we were just 2. He replied that we were with my parents and asked why. The CM said he needed 2 people to ride in the parade, my mum immediately said that we could go as she knew how much i wanted to do this. A couple of minutes later, he came back and said as we were doing him a favour, he would do us one and put them in the parade too on a different float. He took us 'backstage' with the other families and we were given safari mouse hats and jackets to wear. I couldn't believ it when he told DH and I that we were going to ride on the first float. It was awesome (waving at the crowd for half an hour with a big smile was really easy as we were so excited.)

If you watched the parade on 31st July this year, we are the couple on the front float waving madly. We laughed afterwards when we realised that we are now on thousands of photos and videotapes around the world!!!

I have read about people getting in the parades, how do you get lucky enough to do this??!! Do you just have to be in the right place at the right time? My kids would love it!! 33 Days left to go!

:jumping1:

It was literally right place, right time (we were wearing matching shirts, but I don't really know if that helped). I heard that if you ask, you definitely do not get picked.

Wow! What a great dream come true for you! :goodvibes

Wow, that is soooooo awesome! I wish that would happen to us, when we go down in 26 more days(that would be awesome for my birthday)! :wizard:

Did they take your picture(so you have something to look back on)?

They stop the float and take your picture on a disposable camera, right as you come out of the parade gate. They then give you the camera and tell you to take shots of the parade route along the way, you get to keep the camera after. The only thing they ask you not to do, is to take pictures backstage.
