it gets "naked" come Oct 1st?

I had this strange dream last night that they rigged the bricks w/ fiberoptic lights so that when it was dark, the castle would twinkle. It looked neat in my dream :cool1:

I guess I'll always love the castle whether it's "original", "pepto-pink", decked in gold statues, etc. :goodvibes

I think it looks pretty the way it is. I almost wish they would keep it. I look at older pics of the castle and it really does look naked!

I'm looking forward to the removal of the castle glitz. I much prefer it in its original beauty. Just like the Epcot Ball. I will celebrate the day the wand and wording is removed.

:artist: I liked the cake castle - and the current gold gilt castle, too. Actually I like the castle naked or dressed. For years after the "cake" was removed, some pink flecks still could be seen on the castle surface along the walkway just downhill and across from the Cinderella fountain.

I like the golden touches now. I wish they would take away that mirror thing though. It's just not sized right...it never looked right there. Hated it the first time I saw it..hate it today. But, the rest is kind of pretty. But, I'm one who actually likes the gloved hand on Spaceship Earth..go figure.

My thoughts exactly!

I saw the Pepto-Castle ( :scared: ) and was not impressed. Also saw it toilet-papered by Stitch ( ) 2 years ago and was not impressed. I will be there on 9/30 and hope to get a chance to see the Happiest Celebration castle before they change it over.

I agree, although I don't hate the mirror. I think the idea is cute, but it is the wrong size.

I agree with Spaceship Earth too. I never saw it without the hand (except in pictures), so I could be partial.

I realize this thread hasn't been posted on for a while, so you probably already know this, but it sounds like they are bringing in the crane to take down the HCOE decos on Sept. 10. From what I understand that will take 3 days and then they will begin painting the castle and building/refurbishing a bedroom suite inside the castle. Don't know how long all this will take. We will be in MK on Sept 7, so will get to see it before they start and will also be there on the 10th and maybe the 13th or 14th before we head home. I hope I get to see it both ways!

The suite is being worked on NOW, according to two "insider" sources I have....that are credible, but I still do not guarantee what they say. Painting should be complete by 10/10!!!

I personally liked the Castle Cake and I also like The Epcot Glove and Glitz. I have never seen the Toilet Papered Stitch Castle. Was this when they first opened the Stitch attraction? How long was it up? Does anyone have a picture - I would love to see it?

OH OH - I want to see a pic of that one, anyone got it?

I too would love to see a picture with the toilet paper. I've never even heard of it which is unlike me to ever miss anything.
I was thinking what the problem is with all these "way out" temporary decorations. Obviously the imagineers think it would be good to change the look of the castle to celebrate an occasion and that guests will also see it as temporary. There are plenty of guests who are regulars who do see it like that and so can move on and put it behind them, knowing the original will be back. The thing that always makes me sad is that there are millions of guests who will visit over that period of time, who have saved all their lives to fulfil their dreams of visiting WDW and seeing the castle, only to find it covered in icing or bog roll. They then have that memory for the rest of their lives. :guilty:

I love the castle, any way. Every time I visit my dad in California and see Aurora's Castle I just miss the *true* castle.

I know, their's was first. But I'm an East Coaster and Cindy's Castle is the one I'll always stand by, no matter what she's wearing.

The day they opened Stitch, the whole castle was TP'd. We had no idea it was coming and it was HILARIOUS! Stitch had gotten out and done it. There were special "Security" people looking for him. Then a bunch of Elvises (and kid Elvises - too cute!) sang on the stage and Stitch made an appearance...but he got away and could be found somewhere in the park.

A nervous Disney guy in a suit on Main Street asked me if I found it offensive. No way! Too funny.

But the cake was disgusting. And I don't like the bling much, especially the rotating add for other parks. Ug. I'm glad it is going away. Stop playing with the castle, guys!

Still on the fence about the Mickey arm and wand. I like it, but it detracts from the majesty of the ball. Wish they'd done that at MGM.

Here are some pictures of the day with Stitch Castle. :) I can remember coming over on the monorail and seeing the toilet paper floating in the air.

Actually sounds quite good. The picture shows it wasn't completely covered in toilet paper as I had imagined. I think I thought it was mumified.

I really like the castle au natural. It looks more authentic to me. I HATED the cake - it was an atrocity IMO. However, I can appreciate the humor of the tp-ing by Stitch - although I would have been upset if it was like that the whole vacation.
