After all our trips to Disney over the years I knew it was just a matter of time...last week we saw a SNAKE at Epcot.

And I'm happy to report, I survived seeing it. Although I didn't stick around whenever we heard rustling in the bushes the rest of the trip!

Yes, I'm one of those irrationally phobic snake people. In fact, I worry about a snake slithering into the room and wrapping itself around the base of the toilet while mousekeeping has the door open. I know, not likely and a bit crazy, but I still think of it everytime I turn on the bathroom light. I was actually relieved we got a 3rd floor room this trip, figured it lowered the odds of that happening. I always felt a bit safer on past trips when we stayed Deluxe before of the indoor hallways.

Reading this literally sent shivers up my spin. Snakes creep me out, and the smaller and faster they slither the more I squirm. Now I have the heebie jeebies.

If it was a black snake it was probably one of the ones we have under contract to entertain the Guests.

I can fully understand your fear........but.........:rolleyes1..did you ever think the snake was more afriad of you?.or people in general??:)

AKK

Never had the pleasure of meeting one of these slithery things myself just the usual assortment of lizards , frogs and such like.

Must say if i did see one early in the trip like you i would not be hanging around the paths if i heard any rustling going on :)

Ha, we were watching the movie they play at night on the beach at the WL and a huge snake slithered onto the beach. Luckily most people didn't notice it until it had nearly slithered away, but DD5 did, and I think she is scarred for life. Every time we talk about future travel plans, the first question out of her mouth is, "Are there snakes there?" So it goes like this:

"The beach."

"Are there snakes there?"

"Italy."

"Are there snakes there?"

"Grandma's house."

"Are there snakes there?"

We've seen a snake at Epcot before. They apparently are fairly normal occurrences since there seemed to be a rather routine response by Disney. First some CM's/mamagers moved in to keep guests away. Shortly security (to keep guests away) and some pest management folks showed up. Before you knew it, the snake was being transported away. Might have taken 15 minutes in total.

I probably shouldnt laugh, but... :rotfl:

We get asked the same question about EVERY theme park ride we come across by DS8... "Does it go fast?" IASW included!!

Oh, cmon. It was an animatronic!:lmao:

J/K. I hate snakes. My friend's sister took her dog outside the other day and stepped on a copperhead. It bit her twice on the foot. She was in the hospital for 2 days. It made the news here - I know, it was a slow day for news.

The toilet is a very unlikely place for the snake to go...they usually go for some place warm. Maybe behind a fridge by the exhaust.

I, too, have an irrational fear of snakes. For this reason I am grateful there are no snakes where I live (beyond the ones you can buy at a pet store). I am always on the lookout for snakes while in Florida and am not looking forward to a time when I actually see one.

A girl after my own heart!

DD14 (who isn't even afraid of snakes) and I would jump like fools every time we heard rustling in the bushes for the rest of the trip. And we'd walk in the CENTER of the pathways after that. Do you realize just how many bushes there are at Disney? A lot!!

LOL! In April I too saw my 1st snake in the world. My DH and I were taking a romantic stroll on the Boardwalk Gazebo area and there it was... One fairly large( to me anyway) snake. I ran and My DH went over to get a better look:eek:

We have so many snakes around our yard and pond (none poisonous) that they do not really bother me. We keep telling our neighbor not to kill them because they get rid of the mice. But I do not like spiders and especially in Florida, seen some very big ones at Disney Resorts:scared1:

I'm not sure I would have survived seeing one. I can't even look at them on TV or in a book, so seeing a real live one that wasn't behind a glass cage would completely freak me out.

OP, I too have read the story on here about the snake in the room that had followed mousekeepers in and decided to stay! I've requested a high floor for our stay at OKW.

Claire :)
