Life update coming some time today!

So sorry that I havent finished this report. Life got in the way. Last August Bill wasnt feeling well, we went to the Smokys to meet his parents and he just got worse. When we got home the doctor said he was starting to get pneumonia and got him on antibotics. They said it cleared up.

In October he said he still didnt feel right and wanted a check up and an x-ray. The we went to urgent care since his doctor didnt have any openings. The Physicans Assistant said his lungs sounded fine and Bill didnt have any labored breathing or anything that would point to any problems. Bill still asked for an x-ray. It came back showing fluid on the chest cavity. The PA came back acting freaked out saying he had a pleural effusion which is a buildup of fluid between the layers of tissue that line the lungs and chest cavity. At the time she didnt explain to us what is was at all, just said we needed to get to the ER and get checked in asap. I was freaking out. We went home first to pack a bag and get Ace situated before we went to the hospital. A guy that checked us in said the PA shouldnt have upset us like that, that he did see the x-ray and there was fluid but not enough to alarm us like she did.

The next day they did the procedure to take the fluid away, they let me stay in the room. They used an ultrasound to find where to put the extremely long needle. All the staff was so wonderful. They took 1 ½ liters of fluid off his chest cavity. They warned us he would cough a lot after the procedure, it was natural and a way to expand his lung again. The coughing was awful, he said he felt like he would never get his breath back. I admit I was a mess during this hospital stay. I had taken Ace to the boarders and only left the hospital to shower. If it wasnt for my friends, both here and online I dont know how I would have kept it together. Bill is my everything. He took the whole thing in stride smiling through it all. He amazes me.

We are still having issues with his new wheelchair and getting it adjusted. It is just a matter of time until it is the way he wants it. It is just hard when you have to drive 2 ½ hours to get every adjustment.

We spent Christmas with Bills family. It was wonderful as usual. The business that had Bill maintaining their website decided they would do it in house and he is no longer working for them. As of today they still have things listed for December on the front page :rolleyes2 but whatever.

As January rolled around we were wishing a WDW trip was on the horizon. We did have a trip planned in February but with Bills health issues we decided to cancel it. Several dates were talked about, but December always seems to win out. We just love going that time of year. We hope to see many DISers during that time.
Thanks for not forgetting us. I will be wrapping this report up very soon.

next installment SWW Fastpass? We don't need no stink fastpass!!

It sounds like a rough few months. I am glad to hear he is doing better now though.

Oh I've been wondering what happened to you .You tell Bill that we all understand and that his health is number 1 the tr can and will wait.I hope everything is okay now and that you get to go back to our magical world very soon. When you do come finish this I will be ready to read all about it.SEnding the warmest wishes to you both ::yes::

I have to tell you! I was so excited when I got the DIS message that you posted to this thread!! Its not enough to have Facebook... I need to read the TR too!!! :rotfl:

Goodness, so sorry that Bill has been so sick. I am glad to hear he is getting better. Sending some prayers your way. I love all your trip reports and glad to see you here on the boards again. :)

SO glad that everything is fine with Bill! Hopefully you will be back on your way to Disney before too long!

Coming out of lurkdom to tell you that I've really enjoyed your report. So sorry to hear about Bill's health issues; glad he is feeling better. :goodvibes

So sorry Bill & you had to go through this scare. Happy Bill is feeling better. Too bad he is having such a time with his wheelchair, that must be a bummer. Hopefully it will be right sooner rather than later.
December really is such a magical time for a WDW trip.
Sorry Bill's former company decided to go "in house". Hopefully, something better will come along.
I am very happy you let us know what was going on. I know I was a bit concerned, as I am sure others were. You both, as do all my "disboard friends" stay in my thoughts and prayers.
And, I will be waiting when you are back in the mind frame to continue this TR. No hurry, life on lifes terms. ;)

Hey Tracy and Bill! :flower3:

I always love reading about your trips. I should be able to get caught up soon. (Just as you finish! LOL)

Just read over your update. Good for Bill for making them take that x-ray! We know our bodies better than anyone and sometimes it seems like we have to fight to be heard. I look forward to your December trip! :)

The wheelchair issue is aggravating, but we will keep working at it until it is fixed. We love going to WDW in December it is very special to us. Bill is relieved about the job issue, they were not good with communicating.

Thanks!

Bill’s day had come May 19th, 2012 Saturday…. Star Wars Weekend. He was excited, we were up and out the door early for us. The Boardwalk is beautiful in the morning.

705.jpg

We were at the boat dock by 6:55, park opening was 8am, the boats are supposed to start 1 hour before park opening. We were first in line!! This is the first thing we saw:

The sunlight was bathing the Boardwalk with beautiful colors:

Hmm… we would be having a “Magical Day” if the boat would show up, 7:15am rolled around and no boat. I had the WDW transportation number and called it. She was shocked the boat wasn’t there and said she would call over there to see what the issue was. She put me on hold then came back saying they were warming the boats up and they would be there asap. It was past 7:25am by the time they showed up. Bill thinks they screwed up and thought DHS opened at 9, they change the time to 8am for SWW. We weren’t happy. Bill was hoping to see if he could get a Fastpass for an autograph.

Of course by the time we got there the Ray Parks fastpasses were gone. He was the Dark Sith. We were informed that we should have been there before 6, or as one CM told me “people camped out”. HELLO, do you see Bill, we can’t “camp out”, or do you expect me to leave him and camp out alone to get the fastpass? Neither of us expect special treatment, but we do expect fair and equal access. How is it equal if Bill is physically unable to stay out there all night? I asked this question to Guest Relations and got the run around about how they don’t discourage people camping out for special events like that. They gave Bill a pack of pre autographed pictures from the stars, like he would want that. Sorry but this stuff really upsets me.

We left Guest Relations and things we saw started to make me smile:

The first of many views from the Tray on this day:

741.jpg

We went to “Darth’s Mall” first to see what the merchandise looked like. Here is the backside of the Tower of Terror:

747.jpg

Some of the merchandise:

753.jpg

We picked up a tee shirt and an Annual Passholder exclusive pin and went to get some breakfast so we could figure out Bill’s strategy for the day.

Some of the offerings at Starring Rolls:

766.jpg

Do you think we bought enough junk?

162.jpg

Bill likes to try many things, people give me the “you shouldn’t be eating that” look, they would never believe how much Bill eats.

We decided to stroll over to where Mr. Ray Parks was going to be doing his autographs, Bill wanted me to see if I could get a decent picture of him. We were one of the first ones lined up in front of his little tent:

769.jpg

We watched him walk up with Disney security and other CM’s and he sat down, here he is:

773.jpg

I thought we would leave at that point, Bill had other ideas and moved to the exit of the fenced in area:

775.jpg

It was BLAZING HOT!! Where we were standing, by Gertie, was NOT shaded and I was getting very warm. I went over by Bill when all of the sudden Ray stopped signing for fastpass people, said hello to someone and took a picture with them right in front of Bill. Do you know who the guy on the left is??

776.jpg

Ray was supposed to sign for 30 – 45 minutes, Bill said his plan was to stay where he was and hope Ray would stop for a picture on his way out of the area. I was walking around to get near shade, getting water, anything to waste time. Bill would not budge.

Then I had a total geek moment. I am always geeked out about Imagineers and then I see one with one of my favorite Disney photographers and I am a bumbling idiot. Right next to us getting something at Gertie’s was Tom and Sarah Bricker from the Disney Tourist Blog and with them was Imagineer Jason Grandt. I follow all of them on Twitter. I walked up to Tom and Sarah and told them I followed their blog and loved their pictures. Sarah was so gracious and OMG she is even more gorgeous in person than in Tom'’s fantastic pictures. See all the camera equipment Tom is carrying.

787.jpg

Forty five minutes came and left and Ray was still signing. Disney security showed up to escort him backstage to get ready for the parade. He ended up signing for an hour and 20 minutes.

788.jpg

Bill moved from the fence to be more in the lane where Ray should go. He was so hot but would not leave:

790.jpg

More people figured out he would be walking there and Ray signed a couple things for them then came to Bill. I went into paparazzi mode:

793.jpg

796.jpg

A beautiful British voice said “are you with him?”

798.jpg

799.jpg

I think he was in shock that his plan worked, Bill proved he don’t need no stinkin fastpass.

We immediately got in the shade and I got us some drinks. I asked Bill what he wanted to do now. The parade was coming up. The only problem with this was people have been staking out their spots for about an hour by now. I was very hot at this point and knew I needed to drink a ton of water and listen to my body which said “do not be standing in the sun right now”. Bill said he didn’t mind going to the parade alone and I actually agreed to it. He took the camera, so you get to see more views from the tray.

We wanted to see the shows this time so we went to get in line for the Stars of the Saga. They put us in an old part of the que for Muppets 3D.

So many people waiting in an area with NO air circulating. It was stifling. We finally got let in and the Stormtroopers started off the show. It seems they had been goofing off in the park and there was photographic proof of it:

Here was our view:

James Arnold Taylor was the host and he was talking to Bill’s buddy Ray Parks (Dark Sith) and Andrew Secombe (Watto). It was a fun interview.

We really enjoyed the show and if you ever go to SWW dont forget to go see them. Nice air conditioning and great fun. We let the crowds clear out before we left the building.

I think the sun took more out of Bill than he wanted to admit. He asked if we could just go back to the room and come back the next day to do the other shows. I said sure. We went to walk out and decided to go through Pixar Place. Character mojo AGAIN!!

We were laughing so much after all that and walked to the friendship boats. We just love how beautiful everything is:

This bird was just taking in the breeze:

We love that it is such a quick trip back to the resort. One thing we love about the Boardwalk is the entertainers:

We went to the Boardwalk Bakery for mug refills and for this:

It looked better than it tasted. It wasnt bad, but wasnt great.

We ordered room service and let Illuminations end our night again:

Next installment... I can't believe I forgot it!!

Bill, good for you for speaking up for yourself when you were sick...we know our own bodies and we know when something is wrong!

Tracy, I always love reading your TR's and seeing your photos...and loving the view from the tray!!

Yaaaa!!! An update!!! You made my crummy day so much better!

I know it had to be hot if Bill was hot. He is usually so much cooler than the rest of us... In ALL ways! :rotfl2: Seriously though, I know he tends to be cold. I am glad that he got some great pictures with Ray. It just goes to show that perseverance pays off. Love the character MOJO! You guys really were having luck with the characters!
