Grandma is 89. Her diagnosis is pneumonia, dementia, and congestive heart failure. Doctor gives her 2 – 6 weeks. We’re waiting for an opening at the hospice home. At that time, she’ll be discharged from the hospital.

While all of this puts a practical, tangible, medical label on her ailments, I believe she’s actually dying of a broken heart. Since Papa died in August 2003, she has slowly slipped into greater and greater dependency, depression, and, just recently, she stopped eating. She has asked to die many times in the last two years, so she can be with him again. They were married for 64 years.

I’m 150 miles away and only see her once a month. I really feel sorry for my Dad and aunt, who are with her daily. They need strength and wisdom to make good decisions on her behalf.

I’d be grateful for prayers for Grandma (Dorothy), but also for Buzz and Candy.

Thanks,

Kelley - I will include your Grandma and the rest of the family in my prayers.

Hang in there.

I'm so sorry. I hope the transition will be a peaceful & pain free one.

It's never easy to lose someone you love ~ no matter what age.
