Hey, V......Bummer on the Poly but the BWI sounds great! We valet parked there on one trip and walked around the boardwalk. I love the idea of being able to enter the World Showcase any/every night through the International Gateway. I'll be staying at the BWI and/or Poly next trip pending my dad's winning Powerball ticket. I'm just jealous......... ;)

Yeah, the appeal of the International Gateway is definitely making me happy!
I jsut wish we could stay there longer.... someday. No Powerball here, but I'll take my chances on Lotto!

Darn girl... I thought you were going to stay at the Poly and I got all excited for you.... darn.... I hate premature excitedness. (???)

Hee hee, now picture me reading your TR form the Poly as all this was going down - you mad eit sound so wonderful! All's well, though. I think I'd rather hit the Poly when it's warm enough to really enjoy the grounds and pools. We'll get there someday!

BUT, I am excited for you at the BWI!! Super sweet! Leo's gonna just love the pool! :thumbsup2
Now, hold up there S. Cali mama - you know how us dwellers of hot climates fare when the temp drops, right? Unless some El Nino-activated heat wave hits orlando in early Dec. there is NO WAY Leo will set foot in that pool! :rotfl: He won't even get into ours at home now. The water temp's 75. Seriously.
But I AM excited about BWI, even if there shall be no swimming. We can still enjoy poolside drinks :thumbsup2

Geeze, V! I got all excited there for a minute thinking we'd see you at the Poly! Is that what you writers call a cliffhanger?!?!? :rotfl: I'm loving the start you're off to! Can't wait to read more!! :thumbsup2

Cliffhanger? Me? Nah... ;)
Thanks Lauralee! Working on the next installment now, but it could be a while... I'm having a mental block...

I'm just happy to see I;m not the only one who needs a fix for their December trip NOW! Great and entertaining TR, i only hope mine is as fun! Viva La Mouse!

V,
Your new avatar is too funny! :rotfl: Stephen Tyler in ears! I love it!

LOL - thanks, but I have some bad news: it's not Stephen Tyler, but Jim Morrison :teeth: See, with all the recent celebrity postings on the DIS, lots of folks were excited to see their special celebrity loves. Not so much me. Until Tim Gunn showed up, I was pretty unimpressed with the celebrity showings and was hoping for an appearance from Jim!

EEK! Do you think the Lizard King is still out there somewhere? I had a huge laugh when I saw your new avatar. Jim does look mighty cute in the lime green ears.... ;)

Oh, I am ashamed. I guess I really do need to get to the optomitrist, and soon!

Going to hang my head now....

I’ve been planning WDW trips for many years now, and I know from past experience that dining reservations, in whatever form the Disney food deities have chosen in any given year, are a GOOD thing. In years past, I worked out a park itinerary about 120 days out and made my Priority Seating arrangements around the 90 day mark.

Good thing I found the DIS. ‘Cause, as it turns out, there is no such thing as Priority Seating anymore. There are Advanced Dining Reservations, which, freakishly enough, are identical to the “outdated” Priority Seating system. Don’t ya just love the Disney Marketing Machine?

But the critical information I received from the DIS was this: forget 90 days, I now have to make some decisions 180 days in advance! AND, thanks to the Dining Plan, in which we are not participants, the DIS tells me I really must get a move-on and make those ADR’s as close to that 180th day as possible.

And, that day has already passed. :scared1: Will I be doomed to a vacation spent in the bowels of the resort food courts? Shall Leo miss the opportunity to squish his mac&cheese covered hands into the head of his favorite dining characters? Will DM and I ever get close to an adult beverage?? Not on your life. Time to get crackin’ missy.

I can’t just call and make a bunch of ADR’s willy-nilly-like with no ideas as to where we ought to be each day – that would go against all of my rigorous Unofficial Guide training. So I must gather my data and at least figure out which parks we’ll visit each day. Time to consult with Obi Bob (thanks again to TwinkieMama for coining the name!). This actually turns out to be fairly easy. Obi Bob tells me which parks to hit and which to avoid each day, and POOF! :wizard: I’ve got a working plan.

Now, the decisions get a bit more tricky. DM, if you’ll recall, is not a big fan of noise and crowds. While on vacation, Leo will only eat items in the beige food family: mac&cheese, nuggets, fries, applesauce. I love any occasion when someone else is responsible for the preparation, delivery and clean-up of a meal and I like an interesting atmosphere. So, after a perusal of menus at All Ears Net and carefully considering the ability of each restaurant to keep Leo occupied while we eat, I settle on the Preferred Eating Establishments List:
Sci Fi Dine-In
Garden Grill
Liberty Tree Tavern
Ohana
Kona Café

(Remember – I still thought we’d be at the Poly, right?)
I called with my list and preferred times – 11:30 lunches and 5:30 dinners – and hoped for the best.

Guess what?

I got them ALL!!!

Now, you don’t really think that was the end of the food planning, did you? No sireee. LOTS of time left before our trip to move things around.

I canceled the Sci Fi dinner and made a new one for lunch. I canceled that and made it for dinner on another day.

I canceled the Garden Grill dinner and made one for lunch on another day.

I canceled LTT and made one there in Sept. I canceled that and made it for Dec. again.

I canceled Kona and made one for Grand Floridian Café. I canceled that, too.

I heard from other DISers how wonderful Boma was, so I canceled Ohana and made an ADR for Boma.

I made one for lunch at Rose & Crown. I may or may not have canceled it. I can’t remember. But we won’t be eating there.

I’m pretty sure the folks at the Disney Travel Co. have me flagged as a Troublemaker of Highest Degree. BUT, guess what? Again….

I got everything I wanted at the times I wanted!!! And the official line-up is (drum roll please)……….

Sci Fi dinner
LTT lunch
Boma dinner
Garden Grill lunch

Those babies are written in stone; there shall be no further changes to them. But I can still make more……

Up next: To brave Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or not??

Yay - me first!! :cool1:

First of all, my head is SPINNING...First I was on the edge of my seat to see if you indeed were going to be spending all your time in food courts, as I thought I was going to be as well! :thumbsup2

Then, the preferred list...the cancellation list, the revised list! Girl, I can't even keep up with you!! :rotfl2: But I'm sooooo glad it's not just me doing stuff like this!!!

I've got ADR's for dinner at Boma on the 1st...can't wait to try it!!

You know, I was going to try and get into Garden Grill - a friend (and his family) eats there every time they go...they love it and I've never eaten there...

Hmmmm....see what you've started?? My calendar is calling me!!! :guilty: Oh no...make the voices stop!!!!

Heh, heh, heh - too late, you're sucked in and there's no escape from the Voice of The Mouse. BWA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!! (That was in honor of Halloween.)

I shouldn't add any more fuel to this fire, but.... the Garden Grill's always a good time. I like that you get the characters but it's fairly low-key and quiet. ish. The menu's changed a lot since I last ate there and it looks good!

Hmmm...Garden Grill, eh??? Ok, I'm going to get my calendar...See what you've gone and done???:lmao:

I've read you've been working on a report. I found the new one and read up and now I have to find the other one too. How lucky to live so close to WDW. No, I'm not jealous. Not one little bit. :rolleyes1

When we booked there was something like 150 days out and I got everything except Le Cellier. I tried and tried and finally gave up and we are trying Biergarten for the first time. I read all the menu too on All Ears. It's how I decide were my kids will actually eat.

Looking forward to more!

Set in stone, huh? Time will tell. At my house, once the ADR changing commences nothing is ever set in stone until the day arrives. In fact, might I recommend getting back the Kona ADR and taking Leo to the Neverland Club so you and your mom can have a nice dinner together. We did this...James loved it and so did the rest of us.

Hi there  and welcome! no, no I understand completely - I once considered moving to another state but couldn't beare to leave my proximity to WDW! :rotfl:

To be honest, I wasn't all that impressed with Le Cellier when I went last year. It was okay, but nothing spectacular. The Biergarten sounds like a good time!
