Yes, another stoller thread, can you just throw up on me for even asking?

We need a stroller for our small 3 yr old . I found that our state waiver will pay for any stroller I want, if it is approved.

Sooo, what is the ultimate stroller and why? I don't want to piss away funds but want to get a stroller to last, he can stay in for a few years and is light enough for airplane and several WDW trips each year.

It wil need to be our primary stroller for city visits and shopping. We don't have paved roads here so nothing around the town.

Thanks for the help, April

Since you child is autisic, you may want to ask over on the DISAbilities Board for one that he can still use in 3-4 years. My sister still uses one for her 6 year-old son, but he puts his feet on the ground to stop himself now.

By looking at my DS you would not know anything about the ***** so I should have not even said that but wanted it to be understood why we can buy any price range of stroller thru state funding. He is no different physically than any other child who is 3. His Disablility is not physical.

So let me redo this.

If you could get any stroller you wanted for a 3 yr old and wanted to keep it for a few years, What would you get? Price not being an option. Why would you pick out the stroller you did?

I love the Maclarens. They hold heavier kids -- up to 55 pounds in some models and fold up very compactly. They also have a carry strap, so you can sling it over your shoulder -- great for WDW buses. I also like the 5 point harness to keep my 5 year old in it. It also pushes like a dream and is great for taller folks as well.

I love my Mac too. My 6 year old nephew's disability is not physical either, but he will need a stroller on our upcoming trip. We can't use my sister's Peg Perago because his feet can reach the ground and he can stop it. Plus, the sides are not high enough and he becomes over stimulated. FWIW, my sister will be renting a stroller because her Peg Perago will be useless. So would my Mac for the same reasons. That is why I suggested the DISAbility Board. I'm not sure a conventional stroller will do the job for you in a few years.

Thanks so much robinb and Perditamarie,

I was leaning towards the Mac but wondered which model to get. I think it will work out great and will keep his feet off the ground so he can't stop it from rolling.

I found out that one of our paraprofessionals mom is a PT and she is going to write the recommendation so we will have our new stroller before we go to WDW in Sept!

Thanks so much again, :Pinkbounc

Chicco do a special needs stroller - it's fairly cheap and doesn't look anything out of the ordinary, it's just higher up and has a bigger seat than most strollers. It still folds pretty compact, too.

It would certainly have a longer life on it than say, Maclarens!

Mac also does special need strollers. Check their website. I agree with RobinB, you want it to last for a long time and since he's already 3 you might want to get one that holds a higher weight limit. Good luck in your search! princess:

Check out the Graco Mosaic! It is at Target! We loved it and got lots of coments at WDW about it. The few people I ran into that had it also agreed that they would never buy any other stroller. It is light, folds up like an umbrella stroller, has a basket, and has lots of room.
