:cool1: Since I am going solo and love to read (but don't usually get a lot of time to do it) I'd like some new reading material for my trip--the way down, and while on lines...I usually read a lot of different books (history, trashy historical romances, chick lit, Jane Austen, fantasy, mystery, some kid lit (YA stuff like Tamora Pierce), thrillers (just picked up on Vince Flynn, he's a local guy)...) I don't generally like Oprah-style books (for the life of me, I just don't understand why Jodi Picoult is so popular...For this trip, would like to stay away from anything too "heavy"--think more fun and easy reading....

As a last hint...the last 5 books I read were (in no particular order) 2 Vince Flynn books, the newest Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella(not so great), a historical romance by Kat Martin (don't remember the name of that one), and I reread Harry Potter number 4 because it's my favorite.

Maybe this can become a fun thread...If you are at WDW March 18-22 and see a rather pooh-sized dark blonde with her nose in a book waiting in line, don't hesitate to say hi:cool1: .

Goodbye Jimmy Choos - that was a fun read I had over Christmas.

Weekend in Paris - another fun book.

I think I got both at Target.

You have great taste...I have loved that book since I was in high school (an embarrasingly long time ago:rolleyes1 )...and in fact had to replace my own personal copy when it wore out. But I haven't reread it in at least 5 years, so that is a great idea!

If you haven't read them yet, I love Janet Evanovich. Especially her Stephanie Plum novels. :) They are just so much FUN and perfect for some light reading. A little adventure, a little mystery, a little romance, lots of laughing. Probably my fav series in years.

The Kingdom Keepers: byRidley Pearson

Using cutting-edge technology, five Florida teens have been transformed into Holographic Hosts at Disney World. Their images appear throughout the Magic Kingdom, giving visitors information about the various attractions. It all seems to be going well, until the participants begin having disturbing dreams that start affecting their everyday lives. They sneak in after the park has closed, and Wayne, a retired Imagineer, directs them in their fight against the Dark Side, embodied by Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. Audio-animatronic pirates from The Pirates of the Caribbean travel through the Magic Kingdom in the little cars from the Buzz Lightyear ride. The dolls from It's a Small World clamber into the boats and start biting the occupants. Cinderella's Castle is filled with an eye-popping array of staircases, à la Escher. There's a certain coolness factor for the notion that people could be both human and hologram at the same time, and the illicit thrill of seeing all the things you don't normally get to see (both real and imaginary) makes this a must-read for serious Disney fans. Mara Alpert, Los Angeles Public Library

Love both the Janet Evanovich series and Kingdom Keepers....I've already read them though. (Have I mentioned that I used to work at B and N before I had DS?....LOL) I'm going to look for the Jimmy Choo book though. I might also find a paperback copy of Kingdom Keepers...It just seems like a fun thing to read at the MK:) .

For anybody who has read these...who would you cast in the movie, if they ever made them? Ranger is the most fun to imagine...yum!!

For something Disney related, try the Imagineering field guide to the Magic Kingdom.

how about the book Peter and the Starcatchers? anyone read that one
I read Kingdom Keepers which was good

Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom by Cory Doctorow.

Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson--a secretary, just downsized, becomes a vampire queen after being run down by a car. Funny and a little disturbing--lots of gratuitous sex.

Oh yum is right.....so many excellent choices.....
It varies who I think would be right for the parts. I heard that they were considering Reese Witherspoon for Stephanie at one point, I just can't see that. I like her, just can't imagine her as Stephanie.

Utopia by Lincoln Child.

It's a thriller that takes place at an amusement park.

I like to read light, English fluff books especially by Jane Green. Try Jemima J and Mr. Maybe. I also enjoyed Something Blue and Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin.

Well, I leave later today, so I finally made my reading decisions....

Weekend in Paris for silly fun chick lit, Stranger in a Strange Land for nostalgia...And a new bio that I just discovered for plane reading; I'm breaking my no hard cover books rule, but this looked so good: Spinning Disney's World by Charles Ridgway...He has been a disney press agent for many years, and even knew Walt before he died...it looks like it's full of lots of fun anecdotes and I've had to hide it from myself so I didn't read it early!
