Following this closely because I might buy a small direct contract instead of a larger but still small resale contract. Not having to pay title insurance and whatever other costs there are on resale contracts plus the lower dues over time may make the direct contract not as bad even at $205 a point.
Not exactly sure yet if 25 points is enough but if it is that might make more sense than buying a 50-point resale contract.
I would buy at SSR.
Title insurance will protect you in the case of forged documents. This is why Disney probably has some form of title insurance on their ROFER contracts and why you absolutely need title insurance on resale. However, I personally feel that when buying direct points from Disney the risk is within my personal comfort level to waive the insurance, but everyone has to decide for themselves. I can’t recall ever reading a horror story about a direct closing.

Since we are constantly buying OTUP and booking DVC cash stays I have thought about this many times and I just can't seem to do it either way.

$5,125 direct for 25 SSR points that get you no real 11 month advantage but can be used at ALL Resorts.

$10,500 Resale for 100 points that you can then use at the 7 month window for 1 bedrooms or the lower demand/higher cost studio rooms like Pool/Garden at BWV.

Yes I realize that would be another 75 points to pay dues on but you're getting roughly 50% more points for free (not including dues).

Those extra points certainly help you when there is not much available like race weekends or if something comes up and you can do a last minute trip.

On the other hand being resale we can't combine with our other points to stay at a newer place. Then if it is a 25 point direct I'm only getting about 1 night in a studio at VDH or RIV without borrowing from that new contract.

Trust me you are not alone but I don't really factor title insurance into my lack of decision.

I just booked my 2025 trip and cruise so I really have until 2027 to decide.

Where my points chart at?
It seems like it *should* be in the next 2 weeks, but they are certainly taking their time. A lot of people have speculated that they will premier the open sales on OCT 1, but that would mean presale to existing members before... so... ? Maybe they start presales on Oct 1 instead.
@pkrieger2287 is apparently starting a cruise on 9/19 - so a good bet it happens 9/23 - the first monday he is at sea 😂

Where my points chart at?
“You shall have your points chart when the sun rises in the west and sets in the east” stated Stephanie Young, President of DVC, as she sat upon the iron throne forged from swords.

At least this is how I’m starting to envision how leadership meetings are going regarding this tower.

It's on the official DVC site. Personally, I think clothes washing machine would be more practical. But still, nice.
I’m not sure if you were being sarcastic or not so I must ask are there a lot of people throwing away clothes at Disney?? @supercarrie mentioned Disney’s 2030 goal. The dishwasher is to cut down on waste from cutlery, plates, bowls and cups that are one time use to assist with completing that goal.

As always you can book a 1+ bedroom for laundry in your room or use the shared laundry.

i buy a new outfit each day from the Emporium
I swear this is true: I had a friend in college who would go to dollar tree every week and buy a new 6 pack of their dollar tree white socks which at the time were $1 for 6 pairs.

He explained that if he washed the dollar tree socks they didn’t feel good on his feet so he needed to get new ones each week.

Which like. Yeah.

We have definitely bought more clothes on trips where we can’t (easily) do laundry. It’s less sustainable to buy a 10th WDW hoodie instead of washing the one that got extra scuzzy…but it helps Disney’s bottom line so I don’t think they’re looking for a way to help the environment by cutting back on high margin merch. 😛

[deleted. It’s late and I may have missed the joke. Discretion, valor, etc.]
I got the email notification of your original post and I thought it was fair based on what I said in my prior post— I didn’t mean to suggest it was a conspiracy or for any reason other than space constraints (otherwise why put them in the bigger villas?) but I do think Disney would prefer to curb use of one time plates and forks more than it wants to curb people purchasing clothes in the parks.

In all honestly, 60% of my lifetime clothing-merch-purch is because we failed to pack/wear warm/cool enough attire, 30% is because it’s something we really love, and 10% or less is because we’ve destroyed an item of clothing and don’t have a way to wash it on vacation…but these numbers are slightly skewed by the fact that we’re driving distance to DLR and do day trips there.

I haven't seen this shared yet - virtual tour of the Island Tower two bedroom unit (lock off). It looks a lot like the VDH to me, size wise.

ETA - this was interesting (taken from the virtual tour):
"Choose from a variety of view options including Standard, Preferred, Seven Seas Lagoon, and Theme Park View"

I didn't think we had a Seven Seas Lagoon view category? Did I miss that?

Oh wow! Just looking at this now. Definitely seems tight in the kitchen and living space when compared to VGF and RIV’s 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom layouts. Also, the master bedroom and bath looks smaller as does the studio side bathroom. I applaud them for adding the additional bathroom, but it sure does take away a lot of usable space. Would it have killed them to make the entire tower 10-15 feet wider, so each side could have another 5-8 feet to work with? Just seems tight given the premium we know DVC is going to charge.
