Hi! My family of four is booked four four nights at the end of October in a standard room with an Island Gardens View. We've been to Aulani once before, and I believe our reservation type puts us in the Waianae tower? From what I recall, the Island Gardens View rooms from this tower are mostly the same but I thought I'd ask here just in case someone knows differently. Any thoughts on what/where it may make sense to make a room location request with this room type?

Thanks!

Those rooms are in both towers. Twice we booked that room and requested a higher floor, EWA tower, overlooking the luau lawn. We were able to watch the luau from our balcony and had amazing views.

Wow!! Thank you so much. Will definitely try that.

Cyn T has the correct answer. I book Island Garden Views and request the EWA Tower, highest floor. It's super cool to have a drink on the balcony and watch the Luau. I have been able to see the ocean from out balcony when this room request goes through. Have fun on your trip

We have a very similar request... The other benefit is a partial ocean view that's great!

FYI, I called the resort today and was told that because I booked a resort room, I'm limited to the Waianae tower. I did request a high floor, however! Thanks anyhow, everyone.

This is what I understood too - Waianae Tower is where all the "cash hotel rooms" are, i.e. all rooms not booked under DVC points. There are "island garden" views in both towers, but Ewa is only DVC....I believe...

We had a first floor Ewa tower room, overlooking the lawn where the luau occurs. We could hear what was happening but not see much. I forgot to request a higher floor room overlooking the lawn during online check-in. Boo....

The Waianae tower was built first, so they have all of the room categories in that tower. The standard view, regular hotel rooms are just in that tower, overlooking the parking lot. You can still book a few of these with DVC points, but they go pretty fast so most people don't see them. So as the OP has since posted, she does not have a Deluxe Studio room, but a standard hotel room.

Yes I read OP’s post from the start as saying she had a standard hotel room. I didn’t see her say it was a deluxe studio at any point. Maybe I missed it. I understood she had a hotel room, non-DVC, island garden view.

I had posted a similar question in the views thread. We have an island garden view standard hotel room booked for august. We wanted a luau view but if those views are only for DVC studio rooms then we are probably going to switch to a pool view if they still have them. They were available a few days ago still.
still hoping for a AP discount to come out though!

I just got off the phone with aulani. Standard rooms are only in the Waianae tower regardless of which view you choose (ie standard, island garden, pool/ocean room. You can stay in the EWA tower if you are not a DVC member since that's where the studios and villas are at.

EWA is where the majority of studios and villas are. So anyone can stay in EWA if they book those categories.
