Is Your Scrap Room Relaxing?

Hi. I keep rearanging mine, its got to be organized first. I am the one that would grab all I need and go to the kitchen table to scrap. I want to know how to get mine organized and relaxing/calming. A mess does not help, there is a spare single bed in there, decorated in Tinkerbell is the theme. The best thing is that I have lime green sheers on the window and at night with my Mickey Tv on, there is a lime green glow to the room.

Mine is such a mess that it is not even a little relaxing. Maybe once I get everything together, but it's also where we have our treadmill and a bunch of storage stuff so I'm not holding out much hope. I'm just glad I finally have a space. My stuff has been all over the house for the past two years.

My scrapbook room is all about being able to get stuff done. It is organized (usually) so that I have one table that is empty and one desk that has things I need constantly - paper trimmer, stamp cleaner, a drawer full of Dove chocolate. I'm lucky that I have room to do that.

I put the page(s) I am working on on the clean table and don't start any thing else there until they are done (unless my DD6 has a project). When I am done with the pages I put all my paper scraps in 12x12 ziplock bags - one for each color group (yellows, greens, blues, etc.). Paper scraps were the worst for me with keeping my area clean. I keep every scrap!

My scrapbook room is more office like than relaxing, it seems to work for me though. I have a radio, but the chair is just a wooden kitchen type chair. I can't scrapbook with a tv on. I've tried and it takes me forever.

Yes and No . . . the colors are very soothing (a soft beige and a pumpkin color) with matching sheer curtains that have gorgeous flower appliques (thank you Target!). But the chair is not comfy. I'm asking Santa for a soft rolling chair this year, I have basically a kitchen chair, and it's just not comfortable for long stretches. I like how I have my doll collection displayed on bookcases and lots of Disney and Hello Kitty, including a Hello Kitty TV and DVD (I'll never grow up!) that's not on too often, but sometimes I scrap while watching a favorite movie. I also have a lot of framed pictures of family and friends all over the room and that makes it cheerful. The closet is the "gift closet" where I gather presents throughout the year, and it has wrapping paper organized by birthday, holiday, and general. Also in the closet is stuff from my wedding, so sometimes I peak in there and remember the special day. Thankfully, besides all of the organizational bins and binders, etc. I have a desk with 5 drawers, a large table with a shelf on the bottom, and a rolling cart (like one you put a microwave on) and that keeps me not only organized but I always have a clutter free space to crop. Like laura&fam everything is sorted by color, and scraps and smaller items are in binders. Ribbon, embellishments, stickers, etc. all have a "home" so that keeps it relaxing because it's usually well organized. It's more relaxing than when I lived in an apartment and cropped on my coffee table, but there is always room for improvement

I don't have a scraproom yet. Right now I sit on a chair cushion on the floor in the corner of the computer room. Which is why I am always on the computer. I can only sit cross legged for so long and then need to stretch out my knees, oh and while I'm up I might as well check the DIS.
I have a first class mess right now. Paper scraps everywhere, piles of things being worked on, piles of embellishment for the next swap, and I'm also working on pages for the 13 little people in the preschool class. Yup, no relaxing going on here. ;)

A whole room! I wish! I've annexed a corner of our dining table and I have all my stuff tucked away there - some in totes hidden under the table and the other boxes and files as unobtrusively as possible in the corner and on the side unit. When I have a workshop I clear off the table completely and spread everything out so my customers can use the tools, and I sit in my regular corner so I can keep all my paper and stuff to hand. If I'm scrapping on my own I just clear the end of the table.

Funnily enough, when I sew I usually have a film or some music on, but when scrapping I like to sit in quiet as I find it easier to focus that way.

Mine is not relaxing at all. And I scrap and craft with the TV and mine is really bad, so I move my stuff into the living room all the time and scrap on the coffee table. Drives my DH crazy because he can't understand WHY I can't keep all the craft stuff in the "room". I have 3 major crafts that I do, and have tried to organize the space so each has it's own station. The problem is I don't want to throw away anything, and I have too much stuff to organize, so it just stays out everywhere.

I see others pics and I am amazed that they can be so neat and clean...mine might look like that for a second, and then I start working in the space and it's messy again. But I am more creative in mess, and I must thrive on drama cause that seems to be all I'm living right now :teeth:

I must say I like the idea of keeping scraps of paper in ziplocks - I keep every little bit (I'm always planning to punch shapes while waiting for DS(13) at orchestra but never do  ) and it can be a pain putting sheets back in my paper file as once some large shapes have been cut everything gets tangled.

I scrapbook in our basement where it's very quiet at night unless I have the tv on. I have a nook that contains a large low maintenance (plastic and pretty much stain resistant) picnic table that we put down there when we moved in. We didn't plan on leaving it there (our deck had not been built yet and our yard had to be seeded and we needed a place to put it). I began using it for scrapbooking and loved it so much it's stayed. I have another 6 foot low maintenance table next to it where I keep my punches, cutting systems, 12 X 12 papers, a CM accordian filled with cardstock, a CM accordian filled with scrap papers, tape runners and refills, etc. I have a rolling paper holder with 24 shelves I bought at AC Moore that I strictly keep Disney papers on, and 2 book shelves behind the tables with multiple bins for scissors, stickers, die cuts, albums, picture keepers, etc. I try to keep it very organized when I'm not actively working on a page---when I am scrapbooking, I'm a spreader and usually have everything I need in piles around my pages.

I love my scrapbooking room! It's 10 x 10 room tucked into a corner of the house off the guest room. It's cozy with a L shaped desk, tall paper bin, and my sewing machine but big enough for DD and I to work in there together.

DH had cable hooked up in there so I can scrapbook and get caught up on any programs that I've taped. Occasionally the room gets messy, but that is usually after working on an album. Before I start another album, I try :rotfl2: to tidy up so I know where everything is. I love being able to leave a layout out if I get scrappers block and go back to it when I have time.

I could have a scrapping room if I wanted..... we have an unused finished office in the basement, but I prefer to stay where I am.... in the bedroom. Our bedroom is really large and I have about 1/4 of it set aside as my scrapping area. I have a large gateleg table, a really comfy office chair with arms, two large plastic four-drawer units on rollers, a tall slim bureau and a large (6 1/2 ft) bookshelf, and a rolling cart (microwave type), two of the smaller plastic three drawer units (perfect for 12 x 12 paper) ..... FULL!

It is not really terribly relaxing because it is in my bedroom.... most definitely the messiest room in the house. But as long as the laundry is folded and the bed is made, I am able to relax and scrap. I try very hard to keep my scrap area fairly organized and clean. I cannot create in a mess!

I like being upstairs near the kids when they are home and I am able to watch tv if I want. I'm afraid I would feel isolated if I were in the basement.

I find that the "relaxed and able to scrap" feeling comes more from being caught up in other areas of my life, rather than what my actual scrap area is like. As I mentioned, I find it hard to scrap if I know that the dishes, laundry, etc are not caught up..................P
