Is your IPOD engraved?

What does it say? Was thinking of DS's name, and a phone number, on the off chance that if he loses it, some nice person would contact us so that we won't have to kill him.

Well, I don't have an IPOD, but two of my friends do and they just have their first and last names engraved on the back.

Yep, DH had it engraved with Gray Gables (the name of our house) and our phone number.

Okay, this is a dumb question, but since my dh is getting me an iPOD for Christmas....

How/where do you get an iPOD engraved?

No. It wont hold resell value if I engrave it. I may eventually sell it on Ebay or such when there is something else that I may like better.

If someone unscrupulous finds that Ipod, the engraving won't matter--just buy a case and cover up the engraving.
Anyhow, when I was shopping for mine I think the Apple store was engraving them. I got mine at Circuit City though and that wasn't an option, at least in July.

If you buy the iPod online from Apple directly, they'll engrave it for free. I wish I had known that before I bought mine elsewhere because I would've liked something on it.

My daughters says, This iPod belongs to .......... And her first and last names are engraved. It is free when you purchase it online through Apple and I am glad I did it because it seems like just about everyone at her high school has one. I don't think engraving it ensures it will be returned but I do think it makes any one "thinking" of taking it think twice.

PS. buy the service plan, its worth every dime as my daughters has already needed service three times.

That's what I'm thinking. Our DS is in middle school, and he's the only one of his close friends who doesn't have one (and no, that's not the line he's giving me...I've talked to parents!), so even if it's a situation where someone "accidentally" takes it at school, we've got proof of ownership. This is DH's view of putting our phone number on it:

Of course, if he loses it and somebody he doesn't know finds it, they're probably not going to call us, unless to gloat!

DD has her first name on the front, and "I live for Art" on the back....It has helped to keep them straight between friends, many of hers have the lime green one, and at the lunch table, etc., they do get passed around!

My 3 older kids all have engraved iPods. My DD's says dream...reach...sing and her first and last name. My older son just has his name. My younger son wanted a saying, but since he was getting the nano nothing fit on it so he just got his name. We went through online sources of sayings and had fun coming up with things, but they were all too long for the nano.

My son asked for one for his birthday... repeatedly, for months! So when I asked what he would like engraved on it if he had one, of course he said "Happy Birthday Nick!" So next week when he gets it for his 13th birthday that's exactly what it will say .
