Is WL Woodsview worth $300+ per night?

Okay, let me begin by saying that we were very fortunate to have stayed at WL (Woodsview) 2x since 2002 and VWL 1 x. Our rate at WL (Woodsview) was $151 inc. tax...1st stay was for standard room at $129/nt. but they upgraded us. Granted, I felt like that was a great deal and we love, love WL.

Today, I called CRO for May 2006 and found out that WL (Woodsview) for May 2006 with AAA discount will be over $300 per night! :earseek: My point? While we love WL, I feel there is NO WAY that room is worth that price. I understand you're also paying for the lobby, general ambience, etc., but I only pay rates like that for a stay at a luxury 5-star hotel (using special offers). AKL and WL used to have the same rates for their standard rooms, but it turns out that standard at AKL is much less than WL now---I asked the CM about it and he said it's just that the popularity of WL is through the roof right now. Is there anyone else out there who is amazed that WL is successfully getting this kind of room rate? I mean, I easily accept the rates at YC, BC, GF, POLY, etc.---either because of room size, monorail access, EPCOT location, etc. But, for the size room you get at WL with somewhat basic amenities?????

We stayed at POR last year and liked it much more than we thought we would and I went ahead and booked it at AAA rate of $139/nt. (though we may switch to CSR or CBR to try something new--can't decide).

Opinions?

Yep. Just looked at both charts and even the dates for the different seasons are the same.

Standard view is exact. And the others are pretty close but I wouldn't expect them to be exact because the views are different. WL has Woodsviews and Courtyard views,......AKL has Savannah views and water/pool views.

I don't know what the CM is talking about. Is it perhaps there aren't many AAA discounts for WL compared to AKL?? :confused3 :confused3

In a word No! I am ok with the Wilderness Lodge but that is no great room.

Maybe think about renting from a DVC member?

The villas have a nice view and all the amenities of the lodge.

Only 13 points (roughly $130 dollars at 10pp) for Sunday - Thursday, if your trip dates fall then. Unfortunately, it goes up to 29 ($290) for Friday and Saturday nights. You'd have a fridge and a microwave and coffee maker at your disposal too.

Just something to think bout.

Yeah, last year we split our stay between SSR and POR...amazingly, we truly liked POR better than SSR, which is supposed to be more of a Deluxe. While I didn't mind switching resorts, for some reason DH really disliked it and said he'd much rather stay in a MOD the whole time rather than switch for the weekend. Also, we prefer the flexibility of staying at a hotel rather than being locked in far in advance at a DVC rental. Since we liked POR, it makes sense to stay there again...or maybe try another MOD.

I questioned the CM about the standard room rates being higher at WL than AKL---maybe it is that more AAA discounts are available for AKL? He confirmed the prices as having about a $30 difference.

I am considering paying more than I think I should for the WL later this month. For a short trip, the cost wont be too bad and we really love WL during the Christmas holidays. It is around $219 per night with the AAA discount. Cant get a passholder discount this close to the date we want to go. Cant go on points cause WL is sold out.

That's a bit pricey for a woods view at WL, IMHO. It's a great resort, don't get me wrong, but I always go for the standard views at resorts.

If I get there and they want to upgrade me, so be it.

Many years ago DH & I planned a last minute long weekend to WDW. We got a room at WL for like $119 or $129/night. It was a roomwith a view of their smokehouse, where they smoked all the meat for the restaurants. Now granted, not the prettiest or most romantic view of all, but it was interesting and for the price, you couldn't beat it.

We havent paid $300 a night, but we've never paid less than $225 either. I would pay the $300 and request the top floor of the north west wing and enjoy the MK fireworks and a great resort.

That's really going to vary by individuals. Someone who loves WL more than any other hotel and had ample funds that $300+ per night is no big deal would be more likely to think it's worth it than someone else. Why don't you check around and see what else your $300 per night will get you. That may help you decide. Enjoy!

NOPE!!!!

I just don't think that any of the Disney resorts except the ones on the monorail are worth that much!

I'd take it as an opportunity to vist somewhere else! Heck rent two moderate rooms for the same price even!!

$300 is what we are paying for WL concierge! that's with the florida resident discount.

Stayed at WL 3x. Like you first time was $129 nite with std room actually not over parking lot.

Back then when it was a secret it was perfect. Not now...Just got back from trip..stayed at POR and had ADR for Artist Point.
What a joke using the boat service to WL from MK.

We waited 45 minutes going and at least 30 minutes to get back to MK.
I should of used the bus service.

I think the boats are inadequate, especially now with the additions of the WLV. It is a beautiful beautiful resort which somehow management has ruined. Not as special or quiet as it used to be.

So yes do not spend 300 plus for such a small room. Go with deluxe or revert to moderate

Is the Lodgeview room the same as Woodland view?? On Disneys website I see a lodgeview, but no Woodland view?

We had a woodsview once and overlooked a couple trees and a parking area. The room was two floors above WCC and we entered from the catwalk that overlooks the lobby. We could see MK in the distance, but probably only because it was January and the vegetation was sparse. I am not certain MK would be visible during the summer. Because it was chilly the week we were there, we never went out on the balcony anyway.

However, we LOVED being over the lobby area! We would sit in one of the various "nooks" with our hot cocoa and peoplewatch for hours.
