I thought WL is much more popular than the other deluxes. I know there's a lot of die hard fans of WL... and I think I am one of them! Wouldn't you say this is more popular? What do you think? Love this resort!

Being a huge fan of anything having to do with WL, I would say its the coolest resort..... but I am biased :teeth: I love the closeness of everything in the resort to eachother, the location is nice, it seems far away because of all the trees, but its not too far from the world, and we always feel like we're HOME when we are there. We  WL

Well, I love the lodge. We had a wonderful stay.

I think it's "popular", too, because a lot of people love to eat at Whispering Canyon and just visit.

I am not a huge fan... I don't like the pine trees I am not a huge lodge/woodsie type of person... I want palm trees. I personally love, love, love Boardwalk... the location, the decor, jellyrolls, seashore sweets....

Hahah, each to their own. I don't like the BWI or GF because they remind me too much of the atmosphere I experience at home. I just find the WL more spectacular and different from anything else. I'm an addict too i guess.... ;)

I love WL, but it is the price I really love. WL and AKL are the lowest priced deluxe resorts. AKL, as nicely themed as it is, is just too far away for me to pay the money they want. WL, on the other hand is a stones throw from MK and the monorail resorts. Gotta love it.

I think all of the resorts have their faithful followers. Maybe we WL lovers are just a bit more "verbal" ;)

We are headed to WL in three weeks and I have been scouring the Dis for information. I LOVE reading about all the things you veterans have to say about it! I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Well, I at least know that it is the most popular in my house! This was the resort I dreamed of staying at from the moment I first saw a picture of it...long before I had any idea of the rates of WDW resorts. It is the theme that hooked me, so unlike anything here at home, the whole woodsy, cozy feel of the place. Now that I have stayed there, I also appreciate the location, the boat ride to MK, the bunk beds (a must with DS11 and DD7), and the small size (by comparison) of the resort and ease with which you can get to the bus, pool, snack bar, etc. We are taking another family with us this summer and can't wait to share this special place with them.

loved WL ...have been 3x and loved each and every time. originally I was not crazy about going there because the decor was not what I liked, but fell in love with it when my kids sat on the floor in lobby and a animal trainer came out and talked about the animal he had in his cage....
kids were under 10 at the time and I found the resort to be quiet, cozy and quite charming.
now my children are teens and I will not go back again. I hear so many negative comments about noise, crowds, unruly kids. etc....

just wondering, if they did not add any rooms on to the resort, how can there be so many more people then when I stayed....and why is it so different

10 yrs ago, the pool was never crowded, you could always get a table at whispering canyon and it was very, very quiet.

I refuse to go back to ruin that memory..

Me too. We'll be there in 34 days and I can't wait. It's our first stay at WL!!

Now this I totally agree with, since I have been on these boards... I have learned that each resort from value to deluxe have a very loyal group of followers... me... I love the Yacht Club bigtime, the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian but the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge is home. I truely enjoy the themeing and the way the resort makes me feel during my stay, it helps me to relax and calm down for a week.

This is our very first deluxe and fell in love with it as soon as we walked in through the lobby and fell in love even more as soon as I entered our room and looked out in the balcony. It is sooo breathtaking!! We stayed there twice and got the courtyard view twice. I just love the atmosphere there.

Even if it was our second or third deluxe resort, I think I would have still fallen in love with this resort. This is a beautiful resort. My kids loved the bunk bed.

What I also love about this resort is that it is ALL IN ONE ROOF. I love it. So when it is raining outside, you can walk to the lobby and hang out there or walk to the restaurant without getting wet.

I love the hot tubs and they are next to each other! One is the bubbly one and one is the quiet one. I like the quiet one, I think it's not as hot as the bubbly one.

I can't wait to go back to this resort!

We first stayed at WL in 2001. I had originally booked CB but got WL cheaper due to codes. On our last day (6nights) we had the phone call asking if we wanted the stampede rate (which was about the same as the code we were using).
We asked if we could use it for another 3nights (were suppose to go to MILs) and they said yes. That gave us time to tour Disney Vacation Club. We became members and VWL is our "home"
We had our first trip "home" this past Oct. In Aug DS13 & I are returning for another 8nights before switching to BCV for 6nights.

The WL was our first deluxe resort we stayed at and the ONLY one we stay at!! We love the lodge!

Everytime we would go to WDW and stay at a value or moderate, my hubby would always say "One day we are gona stay there (meaning the WL) and he just loved it so much. He said it was just a wonderful looking resort. I didnt really care too much for it (I dream of staying at GF) because here in Alabama, I see pine trees and wood houses all day long!! But once I walked in those huge doors, and looked at the lobby, I WAS MESMORIZED!! :lovestruc
We always like to get a inner courtyard view to relax on our balcony and look at Bay Lake early in the mornings when the fog lifts and the sun starts to cast a yellowy-red glare on the water..OMG....just beautiful. Gives me goose bumps!!! :teeth:

The rooms are smaller than most moderate resorts, but to me, that makes it more "homey" and cozy.

And everything is right there, its not spread out like some resorts.....the lobby, gift shop, restaurants, food courts, are right at your fingertips and then right around the corner, you have the boats or buses to the parks or to the TTC.

THE ONLY THING THAT I DONT LIKE ABOUT THE WL...is there is no monorail for the lodge. :guilty: If the lodge had the monorail stops, IT WOULD BE PERFECT!!!!!!!!!! But it is 99.9% PERFECT ALREADY!!!!!!!!! :)

We enjoy the different experiences available at many of the WDW resorts. For us, liking one resort doesn't mean we have to dislike all of the others. The WL will always be a special place for us, but that doesn't mean we become blind to the charms of the Poly, the AKL, or the Y&B Club resorts. It's great that WDW gives us a choice of so many fantastic places to stay when we visit. Though we don't stay there every trip, the WL is our favorite, so I guess we are fans too!

That is not true. They are larger than moderate resort rooms.

I am not a fan of WL myself either. It is too dark for me. I want palm trees, sunshine,a tropical theme when I vacation in WDW. I want to feel like I am in Orlando not the wilderness. IMHO.

For all you WL lovers, I have a couple questions.
We, my wife, boys (8,6,1) and I are going for nine nights late September to early October '05.
We are currently getting a rate of $300 less for the trip at AKL but I am still undecided.
A couple of the big draws for me to WL are the water activities (boating, fishing) and the proximity to the other resorts with monorail.

Can someone who's stayed here tell me if the boating and fishing is expensive?
Also, can I fish from shore with my boys who love it, or can we only rent a guide for a couple of hours.
I am thinking that if we can do it spur of the moment it would be nice, but if we have to book it anyways it does not really matter where we are staying.

Thanks
