Is Wishes during MVMCP enough, or should we see it on a "normal" night?

I am now completely second guessing my current "plan" for our trip Dec 5-10. (going to parks Sun, Mon, Thurs, and Fri) The only time that I can see Wishes on a "normal" night is on Monday. I am getting concerned that due to usual crowd levels plus the Pop Warner and parade taping on the weekend that MK will be a zoo on Monday. I had also planned to go to MGM on Sunday and now I read that it is usually a heavy attendance day (want to see F! the 1st night so if there is bad weather we can TRY to make it back later in the week if necessary). I have PROMISED DH that we won't park hop this trip, just stick to one park each day so that is not an option (unless F! is rained out on Sun.), plus the only other time to see Wishes is Wed which will be a non park day for us (can't be changed--don't even suggest it!).

We are going to MVMCP on Tuesday night. Will seeing the Fireworks that night be enough to satisfy me (I haven't seen Wishes yet), or should I just stick to my original plan and go to MK on Monday and see Wishes in the evening and the Christmas version on Tuesday during the party? My biggest concern is that we won't be able to do the rides we want on Monday due to long waits. I am planning to be at the park when it opens and use FP, but the kids are going to want to ride as much as possible, and several of the "biggies" several times. I don't want to deal with hour or more waits.

I am also wondering if any day that week will be "good" for MK with all that is going on and the early closing time due to MVMCP???? M and W are Spectro and Wishes, and Th is EE-- all high attendance days. F is also historically a high attendance day. Tue is not an option for us either--we are not going to use a day on our 4 day hoppers when we are going to MVMCP in the evening--that would be to much for our kids.

Am I just stressing way to much over this??? I think I am afraid there will be "peak" crowds during what I had hoped would be an off time. :confused3

In past years the fireworks for MVMCP is different than the regular one. I am assuming that this year will be the same.

lovetoscrap, I'm in the same boat as you. We're going the same days (5-10th) and doing MVMCP on the 7th. I've penciled in Spectro and Wishes for Wed but that's tentative because I don't know if Wishes on Tues will be enough for us or not. We're going to do MK on Tues, then maybe pop over there on Wed. evening, then do EE Thurs morning and park hop to MGM for Osborne lights. I've written up an itinerary for each day, and it's based on low crowds. Higher crowds are going to throw my planning for a loop but there's nothing I can do about that but try to remain calm. :smooth:

From what I've read on these boards, Pop Warner does not make much of a difference in park attendance because the kids are busy with their games, competitions, and practicing. I've read that next week will be much busier than usual because of rescheduled hurricane trips (of which I am taking one) and I've read that it shouldn't be much different than previous years. So, I don't know what to think. I've decided to try not to think about it and cross my fingers that the crowds are low and the weather is gorgeous:)

As far as I could tell, the Wishes show was the same. A CM told me that it would be, so we skipped it at MVMCP. The parade was definitely worth seeing though!

I really enjoy fireworks, but LOVE Wishes!! On our trip this month, we plan on seeing them almost every night. I, too, read that the MVMCP Wishes is expanded, so I would definately go to at least that one!! Hope you have a great trip!! :flower1:

I dont know much about if the show will be different but if you have not seen Wishes yet, and if they dont show it in it's true form, then you need to do what you can to see it. Just FYI, one night of Wishes isn't enough to satisfy you. I had to see it three straight nights before I would go to see Illuminations or Fantasmic!

Saw Wishes when we were there two weekends ago for MVMCP and it looked like the traditional wishes to me. There is an extra program on the end of Illuminations that is specifically Christmas in theme, but I noticed no difference in Wishes.

I would not complicate a trip just to try to see it twice. Its fantastic and an centerpiece for every trip we take, but there is just too much to do!!! You will love it! Go see Fantasmic and Illuminations and that will fill in any firework needs that you have as well. They are all wonderful and together add up to something like I have never experienced. Each one is amazing.

I dont know about the poster that started this thread but I am a complete fireworks nut. Part of the centerpiece to my trip is seeing fireworks! If this is like you, then yes Illuminations is great, but, let me let you in on something. Before Wishes, Illuminations was "the real deal" to me. I could have cared less about Fantasy In the Sky . Every night I wanted to be at Illuminations. Since Wishes started, Illuminations seems like childs play. We saw Wishes and then went back to Illuminations and wow, it just wasnt the same. it seemed so small in size and just didnt have that great affect. Just wait til you see Wishes. Just wait! :Pinkbounc

no no - I didn't mean it wasn't amazing or worth seeing - just that 1. its not different from a normal night during the Christmas party (or didnt seem to be to me) and 2. her trip is complicated enough and I would not trade one for the other if you have not seen them all.

They are all amazing in their own ways. My son's prefer Illuminations because he is learning about the "world" and gets a kick out of that part of the show. I prefer Wishes because to me, the Magic Kingdom IS Disney. My youngest prefers Fantasmic because of the glow in the dark features and Mickey being IN the show. Hubby, he just goes where we all tug him :o)

We saw the Wishes fireworks on Monday November 29th. We found MK to be very crowded and I made a note for future trips to skip that park on a Monday. We viewed Wished again the next night (Tuesday the 30th) MVMCP night. The fireworks were exactly the same without all the crowds.

I expected the fireworks to be different! Had I known that they would have been exactly the same I would have skipped them on Monday!

The fireworks are NOT the same as Wishes I don't think. For the Halloween parties it is different. Wishes is fabulous and you want to see the real thing. Usually for the parties they have a great fireworks show that shoots them 360 degrees around you, which is cool. However, nothing beats Wishes. Perhaps the Christmas party is different from the Halloween one and they are going to do Wishes, but I have always heard that they were different. Dont' just assume and miss out. Check with someone first.

I saw Wishes for the first time last December during MVMCP and then saw it again in May. It was the same show, but since I stood in an entirely different location(1st time in Liberty Square, 2nd time near Tomorrowland bridge)it was an entirely different experience.

We saw Wishes at the December 2 MVMCP and there were no Christmas elements. I was a bid disapointed because in the past they had a Christmas ending to Fantasy in the Sky, but Wishes is an amazing show and worth see whenever you can!

Enjoy!

I saw it last night during MVMCP. They added the special "perimeter" fireworks at the very end, that was it. No special Christmas music. No Tinkerbell or Rudolph.
