I'm at Saratoga Springs right now and wondering if its a nice time killer, or is it gonna be a push to buy more points. Its just me by myself this trip. Would I feel out of place if its more of a family activity? What exactly goes on during the event?

It is not a sales pitch. It is a game show atmosphere where the audience participates. People are selected to play the game show. They win prizes. You also complete a raffle card as you enter the building. During the show they raffle off prizes to the audience. All of the prizes are usually DVC merchandise. Examples of what they gave out last time: hats, shirts, beach umbrellas and chairs, license plates, etc.
They also give you drinks and snacks during the show. It lasts about 45-60 minutes. They tell you about upcoming stuff for DVC. You may even meet DeeVee See. She was there in November.
My always tries to attend every time we visit WDW. We have received a DVC Member baseball hat every time we have attended. I have heard that they give other stuff out.
It is a oppourtunity to meet others within the club, I have never had a sales pitch. You should try it at least once.

Time killer, a few games and a couple of hats. It's a way to keep Members in a marketing mood. :thumbsup2

We've been a couple of times and had a blast! All Members register for several raffle prizes upon entry and my son and I had our cards pulled right after each other to win really nice gift bags with a variety of DVC merchandise (a blanket, DVC mugs, an umbrella, travel blanket...and a few other items)...plus we all left with DVC baseball hats. If you are at Epcot and want to get out of the heat, have some free snacks, have some fun, and maybe win some stuff, check it out!:goodvibes

You won't feel out of place by yourself; I went alone. Try to sit in the middle so the host/comedian will be more likely to see you if you are good at answering DVC trivia questions. It's a time-killer, kind of fun to do once if it's convenient for you to be on the boardwalk Wed. afternoon (wouldn't make a special trip, unless you're on a long stay). They ran out of hats and subbed a small tote bag the day I went -- there were a lot of people there for a little lemonade and cracker jacks and a small chance to win a fun prize.

What time do they do this? It is at the Boardwalk, right? We are arriving on a Saturday and will have all four parks under our belt by Wednesday. I was planning on taking the kids on a pony ride at Ft. Wilderness in the morning and then maybe heading over to Epcot. If this is in the afternoon, a trip to the Boardwalk might be a fun diversion from the park. Plus, the girls have seen all the great BWV pictures posted here on the DIS and they are begging me to take them there for a vacation. We are thinking about maybe booking a surprise trip next June for DD's birthday, but I'd like to know if they really like it or not before I book a trip. The kids are 6 and 4 so would it be entertaining for them too or is it more of an adult thing?

I have been to this event and I definately would not do it again. The snacks are not worth the time and to get a free hat I would rather spend the time at the pool or just relaxing in the parks. This I think really is an effort to convince you how many more points you need to buy

If Devy Cee annoys you - skip it.

Disclaimer: I have never been to one of these - I may attend one in the ~future~ on a hot afternoon when we're staying at BWV and the kids are just hanging out at the pool.

Been twice and will go again if we have time

If the OP went I would like their thoughts

We tried to go when we were on our honeymoon in January at the Boardwalk. But there was some big Sherwin Williams convention and I guess that's the reason it was cancelled. But since we showed up, they at least gave us our DVC hats. That was worth it! I love my new hat. :)

I'll probably be there on the 24th. DH is flying down after work, and I'm moving from AKV to BWV. It's something to do, and I may win something!

Bobbi:)

Fun. If you have nothing else to do and are looking to kill an hour. We went on our Dec trip. Got our free hats. Didnt win anything else. But it was a good time.
