This is just my opinion, but WHW is really only worth it if you want to get a free hat and a chance at getting something like a
DVC umbrella, DVC portable stool/cooler, DVC alarm clock, or a DVC mug floral arrangement.
I'm sure those door prizes change, but really that is all you'll get out of going. It is more of a "sales" type event than anything with a couple of trivia questions thrown in.
We went on Wednesday, October 11th and it was a pretty full house. When you entered, all adults were asked to fill out an information card to be eligible for the door prizes. We then went in and sat down at a table in the back and had some of the free lemonade, popcorn and cracker jacks, which was a nice little snack. Dee Vee Cee (sp?) came out as the host and was pretty funny.. she picked 4 info cards from the box so those people could be the contestants.
They must have been having a bad techie day on the 11th because the entire "game" show part was a disaster. The contestants would pick a certain category and value, and the tech folks would select something totally different. The points were all being awarded with the same value. It was just a mess, but it really didn't matter because it all ended with all 4 of them winning. The 4 selected contestants each won the same "prize" which was a little folding stool thing that could also be used as a cooler... Then more names were drawn out of the box and given door prizes (umbrella, alarm clock, DVC mug floral arrangement, and something else...) Everyone else received a 15 years of DVC hat on the way out.
Basically, if you want a free hat and some free snacks... go... but don't really expect to get anything out of it. It seemed like it was more of a sales pitch for the guests you brought with you as opposed to any type of member information.
I was expecting there to be some type of "news" or "information" aspect for members. I mean this was on the 11th and they mentioned nothing about the AKV announcement!!!
Oh, and lastly, they did not even ask to see my DVC card. They didn't appear to be asking anyone.
