Is Wal-Mart the only place that can't control fruit flies?

I was at Wal-Mart today and wanted to get some peaches but they were COVERED in fruit flies! YUCK!! I never seem to have this problem at other stores.

That sure wouldn't happen at Target:sad2: :rotfl: ;)

No. I used to work for a fast food resteraunt that made fresh fruit smoothies, banana splits, etc and almost every day I would wave away clouds of fruit flies as I prepared stuff. The boss said it was 'normal' and there was no way to control them so I should just get used to it.

But then again..this is the same guy who blamed ME for becoming allergic to the handsoap we had to wash our hands with. Company policy stated we had to wash our hands every 20 minutes and over the course of an 8-10 hour day that really adds up.

This is why I never, ever buy produce at our local WalMart. Sorry to hear that it's not just the nasty store we have here. :sad2:

Walmart-Never buy donuts or fruit or vegetables. In the donut case, fruit flies were flying around.

I was at a local grocery store, and I reached to get a loaf of bread and a big ole spider crawled up my arm. I swatted it so hard, I don't know if it bit me, or I scratched myself when I swatted it away. I was so shaken up, I just wanted to leave my cart full of groceries and go home.

That's gross. And while I have never seen it that bad where I shop, the store is inevitably where you bring those little buggers home from.

The only fresh fruit I have at home right now is apples. And I picked them myself. It's so nice not to have the flies!

I actually wrote Walmart a letter about this about a month ago. I NEVER buy fruit there.. but the kids were after me because they wanted banana's NOW they didn't want to wait one more days for the farmers market.. FINE i picked up 4 bananans.. I got home and with in TWO hours I had a SWARM of fruit flies.. I threw them out as quick as I could, but still I have the stupid flies.. I had NO other fruit or veggies out... So I wrote walmart because I was PO'd! I couldn't get rid of them! They called me about a week later. This produce mgr gets on the phone.. and argues with me WHERE they came from.. I know where they came from.. the stupid bananas! That was bascially all that was done.. a call.. nothing was fixed because of it.. not like I'd want new bananas or anything but it would have been nice to at least offer!

OK, I KNOW I posted on this thread agreeing with all of you. But I do not see my post. :confused3

Somewhere on the DIS, my post is floating around making no sense to any other thread. :rotfl2: If anyone finds it, please direct it to the correct thread. Thanks!

We have WinCo stores here, and just the other day I saw a swarm of fruit flies on the pear display. Yuck!! Skipped the fruit that day. I've seen that at Wal-Mart also.
