Is UC from LGW worth it?

So what are your thoughts on the Virgin UC service from LGW? Also how does it compare to the LHR routes?

Claire ;)

I know this is very subjective, but for us UC is definitely worth it - wherever we fly from! So I'm a little biased... ;) Anyway, the holiday starts from the moment we arrive at LGW and we've always had a positive experience both in the smaller Clubhouse as well as onboard. There are far less UC seats on the MCO flight but I aim to get 6A/K at the front of the cabin which has happened more often than not... We also fly to Barbados regularly from LGW and again the UC service is fab... :goodvibes

We live 35 minutes away from LGW so prefer the convenience of flying from there rather than LHR as we don't have to stress on the M25! Having said that, we're flying to LAX in a few weeks and looking forward to living it up with John Hanna in the LHR Clubhouse for a change... :thumbsup2

It is worth it if you can afford it Claire. Whenever we've travelled Virgin UC we always arrive feeling relaxed and don't really suffer with jet lag.

However it is very expensive! All First & UC prices have gone through the roof in the past few years. :scared1: We are trying Premium Economy in December as I couldn't justify the UC costs this time.

Hiya!

We've just booked to go UC with Virgin for the second time but from Manchester. We flew UC in Jan of this year and found the experience to be out of this world and cannot wait to do it all over again, worth every penny if you can afford it. As we have our own business we can't afford to take too many holidays per year (in terms of time off) and so the one we do have we now like to do in style :lmao:

With having two little ones (4 & 2) the whole UC thing was just fabulous and we arrived at MCO feeling relaxed and the girls were as good as gold as they were able to play in the aisle etc. We booked the seats in the nose of the plane 6A & K and 7A & K and that way the girls were not in anyone's way.

I love every moment of UC and can't belive how lucky I am to be doing it all again

Hi

I have flown UC from both Gatwick and Heathrow and have to say it's brilliant BUT the Orlando route is definitely not the best but it's still good. I've now been to the Caribbean several times UC and the service and state of the planes is definitely better than the Orlando route, in my opinion. Virgin just don't seem to pay as much attention to the Orlando route as others.

Have to say that if you can afford it, go for it as you don't get jet lag in UC, well I never have and it's still a great experience. I love the luggage allowance as well, especially for the US - all those shops and bargains.

Have fun.

Tina

With PE, there is (in my opinion) a big difference between LHR and LGW routes - the new seats make the LHR routes much better. However, with UC the differences are negligible. The clubhouse at LHR is much nicer, and you have the benefit of the private security channel too, but apart from that there is nothing much to go on. 6A/6K are definitely the seats to go for if you are travelling with a partner, but they are very popular, so it helps if you are a higher tier flying club member and reserve them as soon as you book. :)
