I am trying to deicde between here and Coral Reef and keep going back and forth on both of them. We will be dining with kids and while I know they would love the fish I have heard that the food is not that great there :(

Hi

Most of the reviews for the Italian restaurant have been pretty poor recently. I think everyone has a good neighborhood Italian and this place is really expensive also. That being said, Coral Reef reviews are up & down....which isn't much help I guess:confused3

Been to Tutto Italia last summer and this past Jan. Loved it both times!! Went to Coral Reef last summer also, hated it. The atmosphere was nice, but I didn't like the food. I don't even remember what I ate, none of it appealed to me. Needless to say we won't be going back.

Are you on the dining plan? We dined at both this past Sept. Our kids (5 & 6) enjoyed both meals. But they prefered the atmosphere of Coral Reef :fish: (of course;) ). The food was excellent at both. I had the BEST steak at Coral Reef. That being said we were on the dining plan. When I was looking at the menu prices for our upcoming trip I could not believe how much $$ Tutto was! Yikes! It was very good but I would never pay OOP there.

Been to both and Tuuto is so worth the money it's really good and a nice atmosphere and great service .Coral Reef is good food & nice atmosphere. But if you had to pick one no ? Tutto.

Tutto has great food, however for the money you pay you don't get enough food. So if you are on the dining plan I would say do it, if you aren't it's probably not worth the prices.

I thought the same thing as a PP said - why go to an Italian restaurant when my nana is Italian and I have great Italian food at home. However, as soon as I saw some dining reviews and pics on the food porn threads, it made my mouth water. Also, I love Italian food so why not try it out??

I'm going in a few weeks and am thinking about doing a dining review, so I will be sure to let you know!

I did not have a good experience at Tutto. The prices are really expensive for what you're getting (especially the pasta dishes...$30 for a bowl of pasta!). If you're paying OOP I'd skip it. Chefs de France and Le Cellier are comparable (price wise) and I thought the food was worth the price. I had much better service at both restaurants as well.

Just went to Tutto Italia on the DDP at the recommendation of a friend who is an expert on Italian food and it was awesome!! My DD9 got the spaghetti and meatballs on the kid's menu and DD12 got the Farfalle with cream sauce, prosciutto and peas--and that was the best dish! DH ordered the cavatelli and sausage, I had the salmon with lentils...we both enjoyed our meals, too. The basket of bread was endless, they kept refilling it. We ordered the mozzarella with tomatoes and basil--totally fresh and light. Check out the menu on allearsnet.com...I really think it's worth it.

We went to both in December with our DD's 5 and 7. Tutto was their hands down favorite, we will definitely be returning it was delicious!

It was our best restaurant on our Christmas trip - we thought it was even better than Flying Fish, which everyone raves about. We loved Tutto (Flying Fish was very good too, we just liked Tutto better).

I'm so glad I found this thread. We have ADRs at Tutto for our last night and I was wondering if it was worth going to. The prices seem high for pasta... and we dont have the dining plan. If it's really something special, then I wont mind paying the prices on the menu, but if it's typical theme-park Italian cuisine then it would not be a good way to end our vacation.:)

We've been to both and MUCH prefer Tutto Italia, although the steak I had the last time we ate at Coral Reef was very good. The only thing is my mom and husband did not like their meal at all. Also we had a table right next to the tank and kept having little kids climbing up on the back of our chairs to get a better view of the fish. We kept shooing them away and they kept coming right back. One little girl even knocked my mom''s drink off into her lap. The waiters do nothing to keep the kids off of you. We won't be going back. The same thing happened the first time we ate there, plus we had a waiter who kept pushing alcohol on us and when we refused to order any, he disappeared until it was time to bring our ticket.

We've eaten at Tutto Italia three times so far and I already have another ADR there for May 15th and can't wait. I'll also be getting ADRs there for my Sept and Dec trips. It (along with Le Cellier) is one of the few reataurants that I want to repeat each trip.

Yes for us it is totally worth the money. We have been there twice and have had fabulous meals both times.

We just went to TI in Feb. and we have 3 kids. I would not return for several reasons:

1. The kids dinner were 10.00 and do not include app or dessert. DD had pasta and meatballs - I should I say meatball - she got one. My son's pata was farfalle with a cheese sauce, that is it, nothing worth 10.00

2. My DH ordered an alcoholic drink that was $9.00, it was served in a tiny chmpagne glass, maybe 3oz.

3. Food was nothing special, I had two tubes os cannelloni for it think about $20. We ate at Tony's wchich was much better italian food for much better prices.

The kids did not enjoy it at all.

I'll preface my remarks by saying this; we're Italian, live in an Italian neighborhood in NYC, and have had many meals in Italy.

Tutto Italia is an "Italian" restaurant and does NOT specialize in Italian-American food. No veal parm on the menu, if you know what I mean, although they do have a few dishes that obviously cater to an Olive Garden crowd. Steer clear of these. Mostly, Tutto is in the classic European syle - they use fresh ingredients (including maybe the best mozzarella I've had outside of Europe) and prepare simple, elegant dishes.

We had an excellent meal there last summer. Here is the key to eating in any restaurant, as far as I'm concerned. Be adventurous and talk to your server! They will steer you toward the best dishes. When asked how you'd like things cooked, try responding, "Chef's choice." Have a meal the way the chef would like you to have it.

I still remember our server that night, Alice, who was thrilled that my wife spoke Italian, and she basically chose our whole meal for us, which as I mentioned was wonderful!

As for those who question portions, you are meant to enjoy an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Cheap? No, but a filling, great meal. Here in Manhattan, a 3 course "fine-dining" Italian meal runs between $50-80 a person (sans drinks) so Tutto's prices are in line. Is Tutto as good as Batali's Babbo? Obviously not, but it is an above average, authentic, Italian restaurant.

Hope this helps a bit. Enjoy!

Thanks for all the responses. I think we are going to get a ADR here is possible. We will be taking our kiddos along but they love anything Italian so they will not be fussy at all and if we don't care for it we will know not to eat their next trip but how will we know unless we give it a try :)
