Is Toy Story Mania wait times still that long?

Took the words right out of my mouth. For people that can't stomach Tower of Terror or the coaster, TSMM is pretty much the attraction. DHS really needs another less extreme headliner. Hopefully Star Tours will help with it.

On our trip it seemed like almost everyone at rope drop was heading for TSMM. I got in the FP line after being pretty near the front for rope drop and still had a return time after 10:00AM. Returning with a FP was quick and easy, but I would not have waited in the standby line.

Star Tours isn't going to help all that much since it has a height requirement. For families with little ones, TSM is pretty much the only thing, excluding shows( besides the Great Movie ride, which has limited appeal to little ones)

When we were there at the end of March, we arrived well before rope drop. We were about halfway back in the pack. Hit TSM and the FP lines were already out to the arches. Walked onto the ride, about a 15 minute wait.

when we got off the ride, it was already at a 75 minute standby time, and fp times were after 1pm. :scared1:

When we were there in December, we arrived at HS @ 10:30am (RD was 9) and all the FP for the day were gone, wait time read at 60 minutes. We went to the other areas, by the time we got back there (probably 11:30) it was reading as 85 minutes. I knew the kids REALLY wanted to ride so we got in the line. It actually was only about 40 minutes total wait time, so I do think at least sometimes the wait time listing is inflated for this ride.

I think we have to wait to see. I think it will have some impact but not as much as many would like. The height requirement is only 40". Many kids over the age of 3 meet that requirement. I think the bigger impact may be during the course of the day. The stand-by times may be reduced as more people are drawn towards to ST2.

Don't forget roughly half of the population doesn't know the difference between a Jawa and a Wookie.

I think there will be an initial rush to the new ride, as with anything new. But I also perdict the wait times for TSMM will not diminish, but might indeed increase as people decide to give DHS one more try.

I would venture to say far more than half the population (including myself and my family) doesn't know the difference :rotfl: That doesn't mean we don't still really enjoy the ride/attraction.

Only time will tell the real impact that ST2 will have. Hopefully the lines and Fp are more manageable going forward.

The time before last that we went to disney, TSM had just opened and it was impossible to get into. The last time we went the lines were just as long as the 1st time and the fp times were hours from when we were there, so we have never done it. Just curious if the new has worn off any or if the lines are still hours long. I guess with there not being that much for small kids at DHS that they all want to do TSM, apparently over and over. I can do an hour line, but beyond that, I'm not interested, maybe if my kids were smaller, but there are 13 and 15.

Yes still long waits. We were there in 2009 and back again this past March. We did rope drop 2 of our days and got fastpasses and rode standby ride away. By 10am/11am fastpasses were all gone.

We were at rope drop just last week. Of the mob waiting to enter the park, perhaps six people ventured off to some other attraction. The rest of the herd headed straight for TSM, a # of them running as fast as they could go.

We had a 20 minute wait even that early. When we got out of the ride, the wait time was already 40 minutes!!!

When we go to HS, we are there for rope drop. I grab everyone's tickets after we are let in and we're watching the opening show. We head with the crowd to TSM and I usually outstrip the rest of the group so I reach the ride before the rest of my party. I immediately get into the FP line and grab tickets. Meanwhile, my party arrives and waits right across from the entrance. Once I'm done, we get into the standby line. The line looks really long but it usually doesn't take more than 15 minutes for us to get through and ride. This way, we are guaranteed two rides.

I also think it is imperative to have one "runner" if you want a FP for TSM.

With ST2 opening I think you may have less of a line at TSM and the FP for TSM in the morning rush at RD. It'll still have a wait but I think the crowd will be divided heading over to ST2. I always grab FP whenever I can.

when the ride first opened and we were there the line was over 4hrs long - i am not joking
so to hear people say its a long wait at 40 mins is kinda silly to me
heck 40 mins is normal for most decent rides

I agree, 40 minutes isn't SHORT but it isn't THAT LONG either.

We were there last week (Wed, 5/4 a non-Fantasmic day)... we didn't arrive at the park until after 10:30 AM.

At 10:47 AM (I checked my FP), we got FPs for a 4:15 return time. The posted standby wait time was 40 minutes and we decided to go for it. When we got inside, there was pretty much no line. We were on the ride in 20 minutes.

When we went back to use our FPs, the posted standby wait time was up to 80 minutes, but from what we could tell, the line did not extend that far back.

Maybe we got lucky?

We did DHS rope drop during the first week of April, headed straight to TSM at the front of the group, got FPs for 9.50am - 10.50am then got in line and walked straight on.

When we got off the first ride (by 9.10am for sure) the FP line was back to the little Mermaid.

By the time our fast passes were good to use at 9.50am the return time was for the evening, we were only going to be there until about 2pm so didn't grab another set.

Something we did on 2 different days while we were there.... By the time we got to the ride, all fast passes were gone (we were on vacation and weren't getting up early for anything). We did notice however that when there was a Lights, Motors, Action show and an Indiana Jones show right around the same time...the line was only about 20 min. This worked both days. Not saying it works every time, but it did for us.

I just checked the Lines App on my phone, and it's reporting a 47 minute wait right now and all FPs were gone by 11:45AM this morning.

Does anybody else think the Toy Story Stampede is silly? I felt rather silly being escorted by these CM's and then walking like a mad woman so nobody would trample me just to get on a ride! I did rather enjoy it and when we got off, the FP line was non-existent, so we grabbed one, but just the absurdity of the whole thing struck me!

"Silly" is not the word I'd use.

It exists because thousands of guests (millions over the course of time) decide that's what they want to do to make sure they can ride, at least once.

Disney didn't "decide" to do it that way.
It's just the way it is because the of the immense popularity of the attraction in that park.

If anyone does not care to go through it, they can take their chances by just showing up later in the day and standing in line.
Thousands (millions) do it that way, too.

I certainly wish they had a better way to distribute those fast passes! My boys love it and insist on riding it at least once. I refuse to wait more than 30 minutes for ANY ride so off with the cattle I go!

I know that it is a necessity, it just seems bizarre that we have to do this so nobody will kill each other. I was having a "there are starving children in Africa and I'm at a theme park" moment!
