From another Disney newsletter:
"My family likes to observe as many details as we can when we visit the parks. One misty evening in Animal Kingdom, we were wandering the paths around the Tree of Life, trying to pick out as many animals as we could, when a cast member approached and told us he likes to do the same thing. He then told us that there were better viewing areas in some of the old queue lines that have been closed off now due to the dropping popularity of It's Tough to Be a Bug. He offered to take us into this area and then pointed out many of the carvings that we would never have seen had we not been taken there."

Is the show waning in attendance? I know that my family and I no longer do it because, quite honestly, we don't really enjoy it. I like the movie. I just don't like the stuff going on at my seat. And DW can't see 3-D anyway.

Is there any talk of replacing this attraction? I haven't heard any but I'm curious. I totally agree that walking through the queue you get a great view of the tree that you wouldn't otherwise see so it would be a shame for guests not to have that access.

It was pretty popular when we were there at the end of Oct. early Nov. I agree I do not like the stuff going on at my seat either particularly when the bugs all exit the theater.

I love Tough to be a Bug. When we were there last November, it was a pretty slow day at the park, but our show was full, we didn't wait in a long line though, actually I can't remember ever actually waiting in the que outside though for more than a minute or two.

I know that a lot of people have trouble with this attraction. Personally, I cannot go into it without CM assistance because I get extremely claustrophobic in the inside waiting area. I wouldn't put too much faith in the CM's comment though. It could be true or not. We have heard things before about attractions going away and they didn't.

DH and I Love this attraction, but I know that some people aren't very fond of it. I hope they keep it, but understand if they decide on a 'little' change.

If I had to pick between Nemo the Musical and ITTbAB I'd dump Nemo.

I remember going right when ak opened and that queue is REALLY long. It felt like the splash mountain one! I think it's just got much more than they need since it's not really a headline attraction. Too bad they can't open that up for people to wander thru

I agree. If the queue isn't needed, don't hide the artwork. Open things up and make it an attraction. Do something to guide people into that area.

When we first went to AK (for AP Preview and Grand Opening), we actually let people pass us in line while we stopped to view the carvings and take pictures. We were as interested in the artwork as we were in the show at the end.

If ITTBAB goes away, I won't miss it. Harsh? Yes, I suppose it is but to me this attraction ranks second (to Stitch) of my least favorite attractions. Like Stitch, I think the Imagineers were just looking to see how much they can assault the senses of the guests. pirate:

As long as Muppets 3D is around, "It's Tough to be a Bug" is safe.

I heart ITTBAB and hope it hangs around for a while.

If they want to get rid of a 3-D movie, they can start with EO.

I used to love it ... and still love parts of it. But ... for some reason, I developed some weird "psychoreaction" to the part where they spray the audience with the "insectiside"... you know, the dry ice special effect. Whenever I see that fog descending down, I get this feeling that when the cold air hits me so suddenly, I won't be able to breathe and the anticipation is just not worth it. Weird, eh? I can't seem to get over that these days. The same thing happened a long time ago when we saw Beauty and the Beast (the Broadway musical) and we were sitting close enough for the on stage fog to filter over to us.

It's pretty much kept me out of ITTBAB for a few years now.

Not so weird actually since for the past three years Disney has slowly been replacing the dry ice effect with real "insecticide"! :rotfl2:
