This question occurred to me when I rode the TOT at DCA a few weeks ago. Even when we dropped from the highest point for the longest time, it still just didn't feel like 13 stories to me. Then when I looked at photos of the building that I had taken, it appeared to be 13 stories but only if you counted the top "T" shaped section that the elevator cars don't go to. I know that the building extends 40 feet into the ground so maybe part of the dropping is underground? Or am I just completely off?
