Is Three Broomsticks THE place to eat??

So I keep seeing people mention eating at this Three Broomsticks place...but not usually anyplace else is ever mentioned. Is this THE big spot to eat?? I looked at the links on the dining sticky for it but it didn't look like it was "all that". What am I missing? Do you need reservations for most places or not so much? Where else would you eat if that menu didn't flip your switch?! OH, and what is butter beer??

Only if you are an HP fan. Even then you can go in a just get a drink, sit and take in the amazing workmanship of the place.

I think THE place to eat would be Mythos if you are looking for an awesome meal and it isn't your dream to have lunch in HP land.

THE place to eat? Good God, no! The food ranges from blah to mediocre. Aja's post is wise -- stop in, look around, maybe have a butterbeer... but do your eating elsewhere.

Whew! Glad that's not THE place 'cuz I was not impressed with the menu on the sticky! It just seemed like that's the only place I ever see anybody post about eating at. Disney seems to be all about dining and we do enjoy a good meal about 3 or 4 times during our weeks over there. I'm sure while we're at Universal we'll just do counter service meals so we don't have to be locked into any times. I was just curious about the broomstick bit.

I tend to go to Universal when the parks close at 6 or 7 -- so if I want a sit-down meal, I tend to do it elsewhere after the parks close rather than waste precious park time.

But inside the parks, I (and most people) recommend Mythos in IoA. In US, I like Finnegan's -- but the food there isn't all that special (it's fine for what it is). But they do make a pretty respectable black and tan... and they have a happy hour.

Three Broomsticks essentially replaced the old Enchanted Oak restaurant when Potter took over,guess what Enchanted Oak was better in my opinion,better menu and lower prices as everything with a price tag jumped once it became Potterville.Luckily the Thunder Falls terrace restaurant has a similar menu to the old Enchanted oak.The other good places at the parks are Mythos at Islands of Adventure,Finnegans at Universal and I've always enjoyed the pizza at Louie's Italian.Several other good options at Citywalk an in the resort hotels.

i only go inside to check the place out and drink frozen butter beer there.

I wouldn`t eat in the 3 B`s, nothing wrong with it, just didn`t appeal to us. Nice place to see though and have a drink.

In IOA we always visit Confisco Grill now for lunch at least once. We enjoy it far more than Mythos for table service. Never needed a ressie for CG although I never understood why it`s not busier as it is fantastic.

For counter service then it`s got to be Thunder Falls Terrace beside Jurassic Park Best chicken wrap anywhere and the ribs and chicken platter is lush.

Butterbeer is the drink from the HP stories. We prefer the frozen, it doesn`t seem as sweet.

The foam tastes like butterscotch and the liquid like cream soda.....kind of.

We share one, as even the frozen is still quite sweet for us.

And yes plenty of choice in Citywalk too

Or...step out to City Walk and have an AWESOME meal. Nothing at the Disney parks can compare.

Alright, what is CityWalk? Is this like Downtown Disney or something?? Is admission included with the hopper tix or is it free like DTD? Is it closeby? With only 2 days for U I wasn't sure if we'd venture beyond the parks...

Citywalk is the entertainment area at the entrance to the two parks. You have to go through it to get to either park. It has shops and restaurants and nightclubs. There is no charge unless you are clubbing, and even then, your parkhopper pass will get you in.

For counter service I love the Three Broomsticks. Not only because I am a Potter nerd but also because being British/American the food is pretty good and not overly Americaninzed. Their English breakfast is very good, and has authentic English bacon which is a rare treat to find in a restaraunt in the States.

But all in all it is a counter service and not a 5 star meal by any stretch of the imagination, but what makes it so popular is the Potter connection. Every Potter fan wants to eat in the Three Broomsticks.

As for butterbeer, I used to be a frozen girl, but on my last trip I got addicted to the regular. I swear they put some sort of drug into it, because I find myself actually craving it at times.

I'm Harry Potter obsessed and have reservations for breakfast at Three Broomsticks on March 8th. Too bad HPW didn't make room for a Leaky Cauldron in the park. Sounds like they could use more restaurants there. Maybe someday they'll add one if/when they expand...

Leaky Cauldron isn't in Hogmeade. Hopefully, if/when they put Diagon Alley in at the Studios, we'll get a Leaky Cauldron.

While at IOA/US we ate twice in the park. On Christmas day while in IOA we went to Three Broomsticks for lunch; more because our family are HP fans and honestly I was not expecting much. I was also expecting to be MASSIVELY over charged. I was wrong. The food was well priced, and actually reasonably good. This is a theme park after all... The atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was excellent. However; if you are not HP fans then you probably should skip it.

While visiting US we ate at Richter's Burger Co. and we were less than thrilled. The prices well, were insane even for theme parks. The food was medicore at best and the service was meh. When we visit the park again we definitely won't eat there again.
