If I price out the room and tickets seperatley it comes to $1552.70. (Thats using Ticketmania and AAA). If I were to book room, tickets, and dining plan thru CRO it comes to $2379.22. This is for 7 nights, 2 adults, May 2006. Trying to decide if the dining plan is worth the extra $826.52 we will pay to do it? What do you think? :confused3

Heck no. I would do ticketmania and AAA. There is no way 2 adults could eat 800 worth of food in a week.

We spend about 700 for my family of 4 for 7 nights (2 adults, 2 kids). And we do a few character meals.

And the dining plan is 35 per adult per day. So that would be 70 per day for 7 nights is only $490. So even then you are saving an extra 400 if went with AAA and ticket mania and budgeted out 35 per day for your food out of your own pocket.

Have you checked the menus at allearsnet.com? We're a family of 3, dd is 8 and I knew we'd book CRT, LTT, 1900 Park Fare, Hollywood & Vine, Ohana, so I went to allearsnet just for these buffets - app $27 (not including tax and tip) so that alone came up to app $300... now dh wanted to eat at LeCellier, and my dad wanted to eat at Contempory, so another $200 min. and that did not include lunch or breakfast (well for some but you get my meaning!!)

So after I did the math based on where we were going to eat anyway, I called CRO... again... and cancelled the room only ressie, and rebooked the pkg (and for us the dining was Free, so it was a no brainer for us!!)

Dining for 2 adults for 7 nights should be $37.99 * 2 * 7 = $531.86 .......

Also don't forget if you book the package through AAA that you get the room discount on top of the price. So just another way to save alittle more $.

I'd also price the same package with dining through a AAA TA. That MAY make the price of the package worth it.

I WOULD NOT book the package through CRO, but I definitely would through AAA.

I thought that if I booked the package thru AAA I couldnt get the dining with the room discount?

Booking through AAA is the ONLY way you can get the AAA room discount on MYW plus dining. CRO cannot book the package with a discount -- they can only book a discounted room only reservation.

I booked this package through a very knowledgeable/helpful AAA agent in South Carolina for our upcoming trip (I'm in TX). In the beginning, we were planning to go in December, and I got the 20% discount on the room portion of the MYW plus dining package (20% is the discount on a mod during value season). Later, I changed our dates to take advantage of the FREE dining offer. With the free dining, I could not get the room discount, but that's okay, it's still cheaper.

Anyway . . .

Yes, you CAN get the AAA room discount and the dining package IF you book through AAA Travel.

DznyDreams, can you give me the # of the travel agent you used? Would I be able to use them if I live in Connecticut? (A friend of mine called AAA travel at the local office here and said they knew next to nothing about booking a Disney trip.) Thanks :)

That's exactly why I went with Michelle Shears. She knows what she's doing when it comes to Disney. You can reach her toll free at 800-643-5332, or you can call 843-856-4607. I'm not sure if she's in today or not, but it doesn't hurt to try. I'm in Texas and was able to use her, and I know there are MANY folks on this board using her from different parts of the country.

Good luck! :sunny:

DznyDreams.....I just found another thread with her phone #. Thank you for sharing the info. I am going to call tomorrow and see what kind of a price I get. Thanks again! :goodvibes

I have a room only booked at BC with the AAA discount. I booked it through CRO. Can I add the dining package to it without going through AAA? Will I keep my discount? It is in early Dec. so I can't get the free dining? Thanks

NO, you will lose the AAA discount if you book through CRO. You must book through AAA to get the room discount with the dining package.

I'm with Dizneyrocks, the dining plan should only cost $531.86 ($37.99 x 2 for 7 nights = $531.86)

Do you mean the total package was a difference of $826.52??
Why do you think the difference is in the dining? :confused3

Just trying to help understand...

Lorix2, I meant the total package difference comes out to $826.52. (I think that amount comes from paying rack rate for the room as opposed to getting the AAA discount on the room and paying the $531.86 for the dining plan itself.) :)

What resort are you staying at? I see the room difference as $826.52 - dining of $531.86 = $294.66. Dividing by 7 nights is $294.66 / 7 = $42 per night.

I called my locall AAA office to see about their knowledge of the discount + dining & they were able to do it as well (Charlotte University office). I told her about what I had been reading & how some folks were having so much trouble & she was "amazed" as she put it since they are all supposed to be trained the same way. :confused3 But anyway, Joyce in the Charlotte University office can also help 800-643-5331 or 704-548-1334 ext. 209. :cheer2:

Thanks everyone! I did end up booking the package thru AAA for $205.00 less than what I was quoted by CRO! :)
