would you find it acceptable for a young man my age to visit with the Princesses and have my photo taken/sign an autograph? I understand that they are most appropriate for small girl-type children in order to avoid encounters with nutcases, however I am not a nutcase. In fact, I have been nothing more but a prince to them.

We are two 28 year old guys and we have met Cinderella on a couple occassions, and each time the girl playing her was extremely kind and a bit flattered. They both had the same reaction when we BOTH offered our arms to her for the photo, that Prince Charming would be sooo jealous. So if you keep it innocent and playful, I think you are okay. One time when I met Belle she was very nice but she whispered to me "You aren't embarrassed to be up here?" while getting a photo in the toon town tent. I said "Of course not! Beauty and the Beast is a great movie and you are the star!" She smiled and said "oh ok" and we posed. I have the pics, and if you know me I will post them! LOL

I am also an adult male who enjoys the characters, especially the face characters. I wouldn't call it "infatuation", but I just enjoy getting their photos and seeing how differently each "friend" of the character plays their roles and getting their photos at different locations with different backgrounds. Whenever I have met them, it's not uncomfortable for them and they are always very sweet and enjoy getting their photos taken. The Princesses are not just for little girl, but everyone IMO (as long as they are not stalking, preying on or harassing them of course).

If obsession is an issue, I would sugest trying to take some time off of characters. I would stop going to web sites about them, perhaps stop drawing them in your skechbook, and stop the fantasies. Obsession with anything is unhealthy and if that is the case here, I would encourage you to get some help from people who you can trust.

Okay, maybe "infatuation" is a poor choice of words, and I understand what you are saying. I don't overly obsess over them, nor do I shy away from them. In fact, with the new light shed on this topic, I'm thinking that maybe I should just limit myself to the Storytime with Belle greeting, and only meet Ariel with a group of like-minded individuals, preferably other DISers.

And know that I would never try to make these so-called "fantasies" a reality, because they're always known to backfire on me. I would let the character run the show, just as Aladdin has when he went through each drawing in my sketchbook as moments from the mov.. I mean, his life.

I'm a single guy, early 30's, and I am infatuated with characters. You have no idea how much I dream of having theme park characters visit my hometown for personal interaction (World of Disney in Manhattan comes close, but they trick you into buying a photo).

For instance, I had brought my Princess Sketchbook to have autographs inscribed. Each reaction I got from the characters was nothing more but stellar. I don't speak unless spoken to, I don't have any speeches prepared for them to react to, just sign, photo, and say my goodbyes. Is it all cut and dry? Possibly, but any straying from the plan could lead to disaster.

But I digress. What I'm really trying to say is would an adult male feel weird about meeting Princesses when they're supposed to be for girls age 4-7?

I can just picture that! (I know a few of them!) Forgot what thread it was on, it wasn't that long ago. I don't think CM was hurt though. Maybe someone can link you up with the thread. Seriously though, I wish the OP would explain his "backfire" comment. That's kind of scary, but maybe I got it wrong?

OK, putting that interesting tid-bit aside for a moment...I am actually really curious about what you meant by "The Thing" in one of your prior postings. Care to shed any light on that?

I object to the term "character stalkers", as it has described me personally in the past, hence the creation of the following rules I subjected to myself since "The Thing":
I cannot take video of characters. Only still photos
I cannot "play" with the characters, as they have other people to meet.
I cannot talk directly to the characters. That would test the extent of their "history", and the Character Bosses don't like that.
Having said that, I am still amazed that I am still able to meet characters without getting funny looks from the Character Bosses.

Nubmer A: Please do not judge me as this. I'm not a psycho or a crazy person. Sometimes, my sense of reality doesn't always function as most people's do. Emphasis on sometimes . All the rest of the times, I'm just as normal as the next person. I can't help it if I feel that theme park characters are as real as long as they inhabit the themed area in which they are brought into.

And I do not challenge the characters nor their bosses. That was roughly what "The Thing" was all about. I cannot describe it any further than it being an incident that occured, as a result of a somewhat humorous discussion with another individual who is even more whacked than what you purport me to be, which was so horrible, and so terrifying, that the very mention of it would bring back imagined memories of what would have happened and what might have happened had I lost control of myself.

The only talking I should engage in with characters is "small talk". I don't ask them about their lives and how much better theirs is than mine, I don't try to befriend them, I just have my picture/autograph done, and that's it. A character expert has instructed me on doing this rather than prepare a speech and imagine how it will turn out, because nine times out of ten, it doesn't turn out the way you want it.

I should have known that bringing up such a topic like this would cause a controversy. If I get another negative reply to this thread which paints me as a psycho creep with unnatural fantasies about fictional characters, then I will consider deleting myself from this board.
