Is this typical for guest relations? What have your experiences been like?

OK thank you. I appreciate it. I am so sad though because I was excited to go and came on here to share that excitement. But then this website was the opposite of that and not just a little bit. I will try reading some other threads. Thank you again.

SOmetimes these discussions ae intense, and it is hard for someone who is new to the boards to know who is talking. MOst of us on this thread have been going for a long time, and know what has changed. Because there have been a lot of rumored changes, some just from surveys that are floating around, we are getting pretty lively ont eh boards, going for from one to the next. You are new, so until you recognize the names, you could not know that many of us are pretty passionate about our trips and we really love Disney.

If you start a thread, ask a few questions, you will get the same people here who you may think woudl be the last ones to help....jump on your thread and give you any information they can. THat thread will be way different than the ones that are concerning you. There is a vast base of knowledge on these boards, and we all love to help to enhance a trip for anyone who asks. So.... Start a thread on any one of the planning forums and ask for any information that you need, and we will help. I promise you will have different conversation on your threads than in the feisty ones you have been reading.

When I emailed to express my disappointment in not having MNSSP dates released yet around a week and ahalf ago, I too received the canned response. They did follow up with a call a day or two later and left me a message on my answering machine. It might as well have been a robot speaking on the machine. Zero enthusiasm. Zero concern. It was very odd. She said the standard company line...dates to be released end of April. Another day or two later she calls again on my cell. Again it was like speaking to a robot (or Ben Stein). Complete disinterest. No enthusiasm. No care. Weird. Generally my interactions with CMs are good ones. Again she repeated the company line "dates to be released end of April". Imagine my SHOCK when the company released the dates publicly 4 hours later!

I had very little faith in guest services before. I have none now.

They just switched them around. Since we stay offsite, we don't want to go to a park around regular opening time that is having EMH for hotel guests because it will be quite crowded.

If I have this correct, since the Extra Magic Hours were changed, your dining and FastPasses are still intact but the thing that bothers you is that now the park you chose for hat day will be more crowded because of the Extra Magic Hours? So, you aren't missing anything but you will have more people there and you don't want that? I'm not sure how Disney can adjust to that based on what you want. You are still getting your dining and attractions based on your reservations and FastPasses.

You are disappointed with a canned response and I get that. But, because nothing has changed in your plans except for potential crowd levels, not sure what can be expected. I realize you only have two and a half days and you had your plans made and then things changed. But, things change all the time. You could have pouring down rain on those days, one of you could get sick and not be able to go to a park at all. So, potential increase in crowds because of Extra Magic Hours really isn't that bad and I don't know what Disney can tell you or give you to make it better.

I'll be honest... what were you expecting? They heard your complaint and said they would pass it on.
Exactly. And, you're complaining about something that is within Disney's right to change as they see fit (also stated on park literature, websites, etc).

I'm sure if it affected you, you'd be complaining too.

I mean the entire issue is pretty much over and done with now. Even though I agree to disagree with the people who think I shouldn't be annoyed over Disney changing things last minute, I appreciate your replies.

For those who may care, someone from guest relations called me and apologized for the inconvenience. The woman was very polite and listened to my concerns. There are already circumstances that are out of anyone's control (weather, illness, etc) but it is annoying when something as simple as park hours mess up plans. When Disney puts such an emphasis in planning (as much as 6 months in advance) then switches times three weeks before, to me it seems extremely unprofessional.

With work/college, we don't get much vacation time, so the last thing we want to do is plan out our days (around crowd calendars, EMH, FP, ADRs) then have to rearrange them. We will not plan so much for the next trip, especially in terms of dining (save $ and eat off property). Not worth the hassle lol
