My friends are traveling to Disney....they said they booked a one nighter in the campsite and doing the one night premium plan. They said they aren't staying there though....they have a family suite booked for the entire week and her DH booked the campsite for one night for the perks for him and his DS.....golf and fishing and watercraft useage for them both..................hmmmmmm, I booked the yacht club for this same plan but DH and I are doing the Platinum.....DH said his plan is way cheaper than two days of bass excursions.....plus he gets 3 extra dining credits in addition to their FD reservation. Is this doable in the campground? He said he booked a camp site, for pop up, no hook ups because he is sleeping in the Suite his wife already has booked for their family...............

Here is the link to the Premium Plan brochure so you can see the details. I guess you can call Disney to ask specifically about the campsites if you don't believe your friend. The brochure says it requires a stay at a Disney resort - I didn't study it to see if there are any exclusions.

Didn't you post almost the same question about the Platinum Plan and not staying in the room with your family? Or maybe it was about free dining, but it seemed to be similar to what your friends are doing - booking a room you will not use to get dining credits and other perks. I would guess Disney's answer would be the same as the one they gave you before.

I'm sure that's why Disney requires a 3-night minimum for 2012 - too many people trying to work the system.

I am just shocked that my friends can do this @ the campsite...Its not that I dont believe them, I don't want them misinformed...................Yes, I am doing their same plan only with Platinum package at the Yacht Club!

It does seem like an awfully good deal if you can do this with one night at the campground, even if they are paying for another night elsewhere. I guess it is worth the trouble if only some in the room want to do it - otherwise they could book a one-night package at the family suites then add a room-only reservation to complete the trip (unless they also booked the dining plan at the suites).

Really, a 3 night minimum? We frequently stay at our condo for a week and tag on an extra night or two so we can vacation for 9 or 10 days, typically Friday to Sunday. It'll be a too bad if we can no longer do this. :confused3

Don't worry, the three night minimum is specifically for Premium and Platinum packages. Many people have been booking a single night with one of the packages and packing in the activities from the morning the day they check in to the morning the day they check out. You could save a significant amount of money on activities outside the parks this way. Disney seems to be plugging this loophole starting next year.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. It is just for the Premium and Platinum packages as quoted below. I don't blame Disney for changing the rules, but I also don't begrudge anyone who is following the current rules and scores a great deal. :goodvibes

I can tell you that the Premium Plan was available for quoting on the Disney website last week using a campsite at Ft Wilderness. I was honestly looking for my mom and dad who drive down in an RV and then I fly in and meet up with them. I could not get the Platinum Plan to come up though.

I honestly have to say to the friends of the OP...... and please do not flame me, I am just voicing my opinion. They are really working the system.

Book a spot just because it is the cheapest way to get all the add-ons and then not even use it. They are basically taking a spot away from someone that might really want to use it.

I am ALL FOR the 1-night Plan in a room/campsite that you'll actually be using.

But, this is probably a good example of why Disney came up with the 3-day minimum for 2012.

The Platinum plan can only be booked at Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts, as part of the plan is itinerary planning service (IPO or Concierge)

Premium plan can be used at any Disney resort level, even value resorts.

I am sure what Vero is posting is correct. To my recollection Plat/Prem are available only with the deluxe resorts. Although Vero states Prem can be at any resort, not just the deluxe.
Campsites are not even offered with free dining.

I believe to book the Platinum plan you must book a deluxe resort. I think the Premium is available in other resorts but am not sure about campsites. It is correct that campsites aren't available for free dining, but someone above did say they were able to see the campsites with Premium Plan online.

If the OP wants to keep the Platinum plan, they'll have to remain in the deluxe resort.

So I just checked this out on an off season Monday in November. It comes out to be about $600 more for my family of four to do the premium plan for one night. I would totally do this!
