Is this true?

Hooray for them raising the limit! I will be booking my Escape wedding in a few short days because of this!

Do I need to say anything or ask them to make sure that the 25 limit is reflected in my contract?

:cool1:

Cant I just tell my planner that I am going to book it through the grand gatherings people. As long as you don't mention that it is a wedding they will book as many people as you want with no problem. I don't see what the big deal is.

I think I remember reading that someone was told if you book threw Grand Gatherings you cannot wear your dress and if you book threw weddings you can.

I can see DFTW limiting it. They have a guest limit and they're just going off of that. I guess if you only had a few more I don't see it a problem, but if you had an extra 10-20 people that just seems odd that you'd have an escape wedding and then a big dessert party. IMO

OOOOHHHHHHH! This is VERY exciting news!!!!! Does anyone know if the increase in guest limit for escapes includes Sunset Pointe? That would really make my day!

Unfortunately the site-specific guest capacities haven't changed, so Sunset Pointe is still listed at a max of 10 people.

Also I don't understand how Disney could limit DP size for Escape brides... can't anyone have a DP... even if you're not having a wedding???? I thought people had these for family get togethers, birthdays, anniversaries? Maybe I was mistaken?

People who book DPs for non-wedding events go through Disney Catering & Convention Services. (The Grand Gatherings dessert party is not private - it's for multiple Grand Gatherings groups at the same time, so you'll be with other guests.) However if Disney finds out you are trying to book something wedding related without going through DFTW, they refuse to work with you and send you straight to DFTW, and supposedly DFTW can get the event cancelled if they find out about it.

I would definitely mention it to them up front so they know how much to charge you and the scope of your event.

My coordinator just informed me that you can have 25 guests (INCLUDING the bride and groom) for $500 at certain locations. I am sure that means the ones that do not have a lower guest limit.

I also want to add that the new Escape info says that children 2 and under are not counted in your guest count.

When I was asking my planner about our DP, I had asked her if we could invite people to it who aren't going to the wedding and she said that wasn't a problem. However she never said anything about limiting to it to 25 people :confused3 I'd hate to have invited people to our DP and then be over the limit.

Thanks for the update, Jenna! I'm going to edit my posts so I don't lead anyone astray with the guest count numbers. :thumbsup2

I just got off the phone with my planner and I asked her about the DP. I explained that there will be a few children that are not going to be at the ceremony but that are planning on coming to the DP. I said about 3 extra guests max. She checked with the wedding coordinators and said that would be fine. She explained that the problem is with the person escorting you. They delegate one person per 20 people to follow you around that day I guess and 25 is the max they let you have, but they are letting me do 27 to 28. :thumbsup2

are there any other new changes I should be made aware of? :) I love good news.

Aduck Im so glad it worked out! :goodvibes

So far, for Escape weddings, it's just the increase in guest numbers, the free night if you block 25 rooms (which may or may not still be available), and the $250 increase in the package price for 2010. Also, a few months ago, they made Escape weddings available 7 days a week and opened the Wedding Pavilion to Escape events on the weekends (but you prolly already knew about that...). :)

Private events for Escape weddings (private dinners/receptions and dessert parties) cannot be booked until 6 months before your wedding date. Receptions are limited to 2 hours.

When you have an outside photographer you forfeit the photography package that is included in the Escape package. It seems they are no longer offering any alternatives.

My WC said I could still have the Disney photographer even if I had another photographer booked.

Receptions are limited to 2 hours :sad2: thought they would be but was hoping for 3 hours.

I just called to start the booking process for my wedding and the girl who answered the line had no idea about the MAX on Escapes being increased, I hope that the WC who calls back does!!

Don't worry - the people who answer that first call are notoriously under-informed.... your WP will know the scoop! :thumbsup2

is the 2 hour limit for the dinner and the dessert party? say my dinner is at 4 does that mean that i am not allowed a dessert party? or is it that each location is a 2 hour max?

You may have both a dinner and dessert party. Your dinner will be limited to 2 hours and your dessert party will be 1 hour. I think you can pay extra to extend your dessert party a little.

I asked my WC the same question and she said that I couldn't... :sad2:
