Is this true?

Some friends of ours just got back from their first trip to Disney World and without being really specific about it, told my husband that there were some areas of the parks where strollers were not allowed and he had to carry his daughter a lot. Is this true? What areas would he be talking about?

You cannot take strollers through the queue at Kilimanjaro safaris, there is a stroller parking area. No strollers in most of the shows. No strollers on trains. I am sure there are more places.

I'm curious about other locations as well since I am taking my toddler daughter for the first time later this year.

No strollers in the Fantasmic! show. There's stroller parking halfway up the walk and then you must carry everything the rest of the way.

It's been several years since we used a stroller, but I remember the cast members telling guests to be sure and take all their things with them. And it seems they moved the strollers during the show. The area is a little cove off the path.

Maybe someone who's used a stroller recently can tell you more.

Just a hint: We are bringing a stroller, but we are also going to bring a Baby Bjorn (insert other baby carrier name here). We want it mainly so when we do take our baby on family rides, that he will sit still and be secure. But it's good to know that there seem to be many areas we can't use the stroller and our buy is big and I can't carry him that long!

They allow strollers on the train to the back area where the petting zoo is in Animal Kingdom.

At Fantasmic they do move the strollers so be sure to take everything...we rented a stroller and had no problems with theft. I bought a hankerchief at the dollar store and tied it to my stroller for less confusion. We often left sweaters etc...when we went on the rides and never had any issues.

We've taken our Maclaren stoller many times without a problem. We've even left non valuable things in the bottom and they were untouched.

I would put something on it, a bright tag/ribbon, etc., so that you can easily spot it. Sometimes the strollers are moved and it will save you time when searching in a sea of strollers. Another reason I started doing that is because I once took the wrong stroller. It looked exactly like mine but when I went to grab something from the bottom I realized it wasn't. Oops. We had gone quite a distance at that point and had to turn around and go back to swap them. Luckily it was still there.

One more thing...if it looks like rain cover your stroller with a poncho or something even if you park it under cover. Once ours was moved from a covered spot and we came out to a soaked stroller.:scared1:

True, rental strollers are not allowed on the trains, however if you have your own stroller that collapses (i.e., umbrella stroller), you are allowed to carry it on the train with you--at least, we have in the past.

Take your stroller and don't stress. Of course you can not take it on rides and shows but they have a ton of stroller parking areas and it is not a problem. We always take a smaller stroller and it works fine.

Your friends were being a bit dramatic.

I read one time that someone soaked a diaper with chocolate milk and left it on their stroller to discourage anyone from digging through their stuff!

There ar lots of areas especially in EPCOT we couldn't take it into the land or the seas pavillions. None of the ride lines allow them. The only place I really noticed it as being a problem was the EPCOT pavillions.

I was there the first week of Feb with a stroller, and have been several times in the past with various strollers - large and small, sometimes two at once! It's never been an issue. This last trip was with a 6 month old, so her mom got a Moby wrap and she carried her that way when we were places that couldn't have strollers. It worked fantastically - and she fell asleep quite easily wrapped like that.

We've also left non-valuables like jackets, sweaters, etc in the strollers with no problems - always take the backpack with us.

We've taken strollers on the trains - it's no problem when they fold.

Don't stress about it --- we've never had a problem.

There is no such thing as a secure stroller parking area. Disney does not keep watch over the strollers. And there have been quite a few reports recently of people not only having belongings stolen out of their stroller, but of them having their stroller itself stolen.

Fact is, don't leave anything you can't afford to replace in your stroller. And if you want to be sure your stroller isn't stolen, buy a stroller lock. We would all like to thing that Disney magic would keep people from stealing anything at Disney World, but it doesn't.

Agreed. Even though there is usually a CM in the area (usually) they are not policing it. I'm sure they're keeping an eye out for people who would go from stoller to stroller taking stuff, but there isn't a check-in/check-out. They don't know who's stroller is who's.

I was there with family last year and we had 3 strollers between us. We often grabbed one or the other for each other.

Good rule of thumb - don't leave anything in the stroller you'd be upset if you lost!

At our local zoo they were having a problem with people stealing strollers (especially the expensive ones). Who is going to stop someone walking away with a stroller?

Also if you rent a stroller, keep the receipt with you. If someone takes your rented stroller, you can go to the stroller rental area and get another stroller at no charge when you show your receipt.

I wouldn't leave anything in a rented stroller, those walk off VERY easily. (When my kids were stroller age and we rented a Disney stroller once at Epcot. By the end of the day we had to replace that darn thing 3 times. We brought our own stroller to the other parks after that.)

Remember also that you have to collaspe your stroller when getting on to Disney busses/transportation. One would only hope that others respect someone else's property using stroller parking and we have seen some people leave everything from diaper bags to souveniers on their strollers.
