On the "Resorts" board someone asked a question about DVC.
One of the responses tells the OP to check out resales and continues to state "resales cannot be sold for more than they were purchased".

Is that true? We purchased the majority of our points in '92 and the most we paid for any of them was less than $60.00. Most of them were around $52.00.

Nope, not true.

There may be some truth to this regarding CMs who purchase DVC points. I think they have several restrictions that the average DVC member doesn't have.

Indeed, there are restrictions here. There is something that needs to be signed by those purchasing DVC with a CM discount stating that we won't turn around and "flip" the property. If found engaging in this activity, the CM can lose his/her job--so definitely not worth it.

However, it seems to be fairly loose as to how long the owner needs to own the contract before putting it up for resale. My guide told me I would have to keep it at least 6 months, maybe a year (not that I would ever sell anyway! I need MORE points! :rotfl2: ), though she was not sure.

Not true at all. You can sell your DVC interest for as much as someone is willing to pay.

Not only is it not true, it's a good bet that most resales are for more than the purchase price.
