A friend of mine just told me that the exterior of the house used for "The Golden Girls" television show is at MGM? Is this true? If so, how do I find it?

I love this show, and if she's right, the wait til December will be unbearable!!!!!!!!!

It used to be we went on the backlot tour in Feb and they didn't show it like they had done in the past when I had been there

They took out the entire residential street from the Backlot Tour that included the Golden Girls house when they added Lights, Motor, Action. I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to see it. :sad1:

Yes, MsShady is correct. It used to be. I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Golden Girls and it was always a highlight of my trip to go by their house. I have a picture of it I took on the Backlot Tour, geez, at least 12 years ago. I'm sorry you missed it too.

I have pictures of that from a trip a while ago, and I remembered when we went a couple of years ago, that it was gone. I asked somebody what they did what it, but the CM didn't know.

Sorry, I can't get over that of all the things at Disney World some people's highlight was seeing the Golden Girls' house... :confused3

To each their own.

:guilty: Here's a picture of the GG house.

They had many other houses, including the one from Empty Nest and Adventures in Wonderland (a disney channel show from the 90s). Of all the things that have changed in Disney over the years, this is one of the things that I'm most sad about. I used to love the Backlot Tour. Now it SUCKS! It's basically a big commercial for Lights, Motors, Action. It's also so sad to see all those old movie props not being taken care of. I'm not sure how much of a "studio" it is now but I know they used to tape shows a lot there, like the MMC in the 90s and parts of Thunder in Paradise. (Can you tell I was a child of the 90s?)

Anyway, just like all things in Disney, you've got to get rid of the old to make way for the new!

We enjoy the Backlot Tour and noticed over the years they keep triming the tour. A CM told us two weeks ago that the Backlot Tour days are numbered. With the new Toy Story Ride, they're afraid that they will not get the volume of people wanting to go on the Backlot Tour. But then again this is coming from a CM, I'm not sure to really believe this information.

To each their own.

Well, that was not necessary. :sad2:

That was always my favorite part of the tour too. Now we don't even bother riding the backlot tour. Everytime we give it a try we are shocked at how much smaller it is. Totally not worth the wait in line.

Agree. The only time I go on the Backlot Tour is if there is no one in line and I have a shot at being picked to be part of the show. For those wondering, I've accomplished this three times. It's fun.

Other than that, I agree. It was once an cool experience. Now, it's pretty tired.
