Is this true????

Tripres.com is showing rooms at HRH for the first week of April (I checked for a room from April 1-7 since I didn't know which days you wanted) - Garden view average of $243 per night and pool view averaging $207 per night.

I used www.kayak.com and searched for Orlando hotels, limited to Loew's.

Best I could get on AAA was $319 at RPR.

Tried this website and it would have let me go through with the booking , but they do not have rooms. I called and spoke to a CSR, she didn't know why it was on there but said if I had booked online they would have called and cancelled the reservation.

I feel fairly certain I have recently read on another thread that unless you book through "official" Universal, HRH, AAA or Loews sites, the room stays will not count on your Loews 1st. Is this correct? Perhaps I misunderstood what I was reading.

That is correct. Third party bookings are not qualifying stays.

But you know, wwessing, it is still worth it to try. If you do book third party, make sure you give them your Loews First number upon check in. Sometimes these things can go unnoticed and you'll get your stays.

I have found though, that lately, the third party bookings aren't any cheaper than booking directly with Loews.

Honestly, if the rate is WAY better, I would likely book that rate and not worry about qualifying nights. I agree, however, that I haven't seen many
3rd party rates that are any better than AAA. Booking 3rd party makes me a bit nervous as well. I much prefer to deal directly with the hotel.

Third party rates are not supposed to count but with the Universal hotels, you never really know what will happen at check in. We booked a 5 night stay last year using the AP rate. At check in we were told that the rate did not qualify for LF benefits but as it was our anniversary we were upgraded to club status and were sent a bottle of sparkling wine. Now comes the confusing part, I have only stayed at a Loews twice, in 2005 for 1 night and the non-qualifying stay last year for 5 nights. About 1 month after our trip, a platinum card arrives in the mail! We have used the card for a confirmed portofino suite for our upcoming trip this year but will use AAA rate to ensure benefits.

Loews loves Canadians.:rotfl2:

:thumbsup2
OT: Damo, what's with the Kalan Porter photo?

A few years ago when he became Canadian Idol, I put it up. I tried to get rid of it but then nobody knew who I was, so I just leave it up now. I am doing my part in making him famous on the Disboards so when he does get better known in the US, everyone will say, "Hey that's Damo!!!"

We just booked HRH for $269 for April 12th through the AAA website. So it looks like they've released some discount rates for the beginning of April. Good luck!

I looked on the AAA website, and I can't find any of the Universal hotels. What am I doing wrong?! :( Thanks.

I just made resers at the PBH for March 19-21. When I called Loews directly I was given a rate of $314 for a bay view, using either AAA or AP. I wanted to get my LoewsFirst Platinum upgrade to a suite (with the AAA rate) but the reservationist said that there were NO suites available for those dates.

So, I figured I'd call (platinum) Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts. Guess what? They quoted me $296/ night, including daily breakfast, one lunch for two, guaranteed 4pm checkout, and an upgrade if available. (Not that I'm hoping for that upgrade anymore...but it doesn't hurt my chances.) I had Amex put my LF number into the reservation, and I'll definitely hand over that little LF platinum card when I check in.

Wish me luck!

So I'm confused  who is Amex? We are looking at HRH during spring break and have found no AAA rates available. Looking for a way to get lower rates, at least a little, rather than the (around) $350 a night.

Fine Hotels and Resorts is a travel agency program for American Express Platinum Card holders.

Good luck!

I see! I didn't know about this. . . can you give me any more information? Website, phone number, etc. I do have an amex - might be platinum - have to check it out.

Looks like perhaps they have better rates than AAA and offer upgrades similar to Loews club members?

Tell me more. . . . . . :yay:

Thanks for the links!

Unfortunately, HRH is not included. :sad1:

Does anyone know if Loews offers a military discount? We are staying for one night 3/30 and paying dearly for it.... never thought to call Loews directly and ask. When I made our reservations through Universal the rep told me that since it was Spring Break there were no discounts. :( She tried Fan Club, Military ..... nope it's rack rate for us!
