I've just read that apparently there have been some problems with the seat restraints on Duelling Dragons - that they've been coming loose mid ride?!?!

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Never heard that before, where did you read it?

We have a ride like it at our 6Flags and it's not the restraints that are coming loose but the seat cushions your sitting on.

Now several times a day the Engineers have to comeby and check the seat portion .

If any restraints had been coming loose, the ride would not be operating.

It was on themeparkinsider.

I didn't think it would be true, but it doesn't stop you from wondering!!

That was in the unverified reports section, meaning it could be and probably is complete baloney.

I went to IOA last Monday (9/11) and Ice (blue side) was not running. They were running 2 trains on Fire (red side). Never bothered to ask what the problem was. Oh, but after reading the report that was posted on July 15th. I've been on the coaster plenty of times before and after and never had a problem.

the safety systems have backup safety systems. like Damo said, the ride would be in permanent E-stop if this were true.

Also all the rides run thru a huge computer that will give any warning sign!!! So I really doubt anything will ever happen. Simply when the ride is not working properly, USF simply shuts down the ride.

I'm sure the restraints are very safe, but when I rode Ice last month, my seat belt came undone during the ride. I noticed something flapping around in the wind about halfway through the ride, and sure enough it was my seat belt!! How crazy is that? I thought that I just hadn't secured it well enough, but it did get "checked" at the station. It's a little scary though to think that my safety back up restraint did not work properly.

Ocassionally the seat belt comes unlocked but it is rare. The buckle doesn't hold the restraint down though so no worries. And Ice was down on Monday but it had absolutely nothing to do with restraints.

Big theme park rides (at U and Dis) are the safest things in the world. Its the state and local fair rides that you have to worry about, they're held together with chewing gum and duct tape.

Chewing gum and duct tape!! :lmao:

Anyway hearing that the back up came apart is enough to tell me not to ride - IMO it's very lax of Universal to allow it to happen. It just sounds like another tale of unsafe rides at Universal :sad2:

I'm amazed Dudley Do Right is still running with the amount of injuries there have been on that thing. It's more painful than fun!!! :(

Here I go sounding like an anti Universal troll ;) I do like it really, it just worries me to hear of unsafe rides. And FYI I don't do state fairs either ;)

DD just had a massive refurbishment as did Dudley. But I've decided after reading your numerous posts here that you are just here to bash Universal. My suggestion is that you skip Universal this trip and just do Disney where we all know how safe all the rides are.

Edited to add: Rock N Roller Coaster doesn't even have "back up system". Just the pull down restraints like DD. But DD also has a seatbelt cilp on the bottom of theirs.

It isn't running because it's safe, it's running because Disney refuses to admit it's a catastrophic failure. They also want to get the "bang for their buck." Even if their guests pay the real price...

to the tune of one hundred million dollars. it's an OK ride, doesn't make me sick at all. but they spent 1/10 of a billion dollars to build it.

that's 1/10 of IOA.

I am a little out of the Universal news. What is going on with Dudley?

Nothing new per se, but there was a few incidents of people getting minor injuries from the drop...I dont have the official information, just what I've heard, but Universal has done a few things to prevent more problems.
