Was on the phone trying to make AR today, long story short the day I'm going to the MK I wanted to make a 8-8:30am @ Chef Mickeys. Guest Relations person said since I was using the Buses there would be no way I'd make it in time to the Breakfast. Said you need 45 mins to get from your resort to breakfast/you've got to fold strollers (2secs), get bags checked at gate(1 min for 1 bag tops) (I'm staying @ POR). MK opens @ 9am that day, and they said buses don't operate until 1 hour before park opens, I read in a book that they begin operatiing 2 hours before the park opens........ What's the deal?????? I had this same issue with the Donald charachter bkfast @ AK, had to make an 8:50am reservation, park opens at 9am, I want to be done w/ bkfast when the park opens not sitting down to it!!!!!!!!!

you can take the busses but then you have to go to MK then walk or take the monorail to the contemporary. last time we were there we took a cab from POFQ and it was like 8 bucks for 6 of us, and they drop you off right at the front door at the contemporary. then you can sleep a little later too.

BTW the book I read that they operate 2 hours before park opening was in the Mini-Mickey - Unofficial Guide to WDW........

The buses run early for the character breakfasts. There will be a bus running to MK early for people who are eating breakfast at the castle. We had no problem making any of our ADR's when we were at POR last time. I wouldn't worry about it. You can also take a cab but I doubt you will need to.

I believe that for the early morning breakfast, if you get on the MK bus and tell the driver that you are going to chef mickey's that they may be willing to drive you to the contemporary while on the way to the MK.

Thanks for the information... Is their a specified time that these buses start operating? If I was at a bus stop @ 7am would there be a bus around that time for a character breakfast????

We had ADR's for 7:45 a.m. at the Poly. Buses began running at 7 a.m. from POR. We had to take the bus to MK and then take the monorail around to the Poly. We had no difficulty making it in time for our ressies.

I also recall the CM who took our ADR telling us we would have to make our own travel arrangements for breakfast. When we arrived at POR we checked with guest services and they confirmed that buses start running each morning at 7 a.m.

Disney Dining has told me the exact same thing many times. My favorite is when they tell me I can't get a really early seating at Donald's Breakfastasaurus in AK because there are no buses and they won't let cars in that early....so, exactly who do they think is going to these early seatings if no one can get in??
Anyway....the character meal buses start running very early!! As I sat at the DME pick-up area last Dec, waiting to go back to MCO, I must have seen 3 buses stop for those meals. And, it was 7 am in the morning. Don't worry about getting to Chef Mickey's..you'll be fine. But I sure do wish they would stop giving out incorrect info about the buses!!!

The breakfast busses for the MK area actually start running before 6:30AM. So don't worry, you can even make your 7AM Chef Mickeys ADR and get there by bus.

The other park breakfast busses start at about 7AM.

You will be surprised how many other people will be waiting for the bus in morning with you. There are a lot of people who do the early character breakfasts. It's fun to be in the park before they open.

The monorail begins running at 7 a.m. (At least that's what the sign said on our last stay at the CR.)

The Magic Kingdom busses pass right by the Contemporary, so the early morning routes will *usually* stop at the CR on the way in.

This isn't true for the Poly - there would be more of a detour involved. That may be why our marathon running friend () had to go to the MK and then take the monorail.

As already noted, early buses for the various breakfasts around WDW begins at 6:30am daily for the Magic Kingdom and 7:00am for the rest of the World. The monorail service begins at 7:00am daily.
If for some reason the driver cannot drop you off at the Contemporary you can easily walk there from the MK bus station in about seven minutes.
Bottom line is (unfortunately) NEVER, NEVER, NEVER listen to any kind of transportation information from any Cast Member not wearing the purple pants of the Disney bus drivers. All of us on the DIS have receved really bad information at some point. When in doubt, ask over here.

I really wish Disney would take the time to give correct instructions to all CM about the transportation available at WDW.

Monorail starts running about 7ish. We hopped on it at the Polynesian for our early morning PS at Chef Mickeys, and the driver told us we were the first run of the day...

Just to add to what others have said, two weeks ago I took an early bus to MK from POFQ for an 8:00 ADR at CP. The bus driver asked if anyone was going to Chef Mickey's, which a few people were, and stopped at CR before going to MK. So I don't think you'll have any troubles using the buses. But also remember that POFQ/POR buses make a few stops throughout the resort complex, so add another few minutes just to leave the resort.

How long did it take to get from POR to Chef Mickey's? Some of the bus times I look at say 90 MINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
