I heard an interesting thing today.
I was told that adults are not allowed to dress up for their visit to the park unless it is a halloween event. Is this a fact
Not like i would want to dress up, I just found it interesting. maybe one of those unwritten rules? Or are their disney park rules written somewhere.

weird question i know. but one of those moments where I say to myself 'self, i didn't know that' :lmao:

Disney doesn't want children to be confused by adults who aren't real Disney characters. Plus, how easy would it be to lure a child away by pretending to be something they love?

I'm not sure if its actually prohibited, but I have heard of CMs telling adults wearing costumes (especially disney costumes, i.e. princesses) that they are not to give out autographs or in any way identify themselves as affiliated with Disney.

Makes sense - imagine if a woman dressed up as cinderella and then went around swearing and acting in a "non magical" way - how traumatic that would be for some children!

Exactly- I experienced this when I dressed up for last years MNSSHP as Cinderella and I had so many kids think I was actually her. I had many ask to take pictures with me and ran up all excited. It really ticked off my DD then 4 and dressed as Belle, she didn't like sharing mommy. It also got old explaining to the little ones that I was not really her. I am tall and blond and had a great costume, but I would not have mistaken me.

all very good points! again, not that i'm disappointed or anything that i can't dress up. LOL
thanks for your posts

You know, this is one of those things that you go "hmm I did not know that but it makes since"

I have never actually thought of that but definately true;)

Yup it's true. My good friend who lives in Florida was telling me that one day a mother and daughter were both dressed as Snow White in the morning and they were denied entry until the mother agreed to go change. Sad but true!

That is not sad but necessary for there own safety.
Friends of us sneaked into the park in there wedding clothes to make pictures in front of the castle.
They changed there clothes on the toilets from regular into bride and groom.

The only they got were big problems. They were almost run over by children and parents for photo's and signatures. When they refused the parents got very angry and to save there bu... they had to be escorted out of the park by security.

I believe the cut off is actually 8 years old for costumes unless for MNSSHP or Pirate & Princess.

Just pausing to marvel.

I'm confused...last weekend we went over to HS and there were quite a few "Star Wars" fans dressed up...I also saw one fan with his face entirely painted in line to get in...I have no idea who he was suppose to be ! :confused3

While waiting to get into Epcot last summer, there was a group that included 4 adults and a couple of small children that were dressed up in costume. They had on very high quality renaissance-style costumes (not sure why?) and the adults were not allowed into the park. It was mid-June, so I'm not sure who/what they were representing.:confused:

Well it was most likely a Star Wars Weekend so its a special event like MNSSHP.

We are going to the Halloween party and the whole familiy is definately dressing up..we are doing an Alice theme...I am thin and blonde so I don't think that anyone will mistake me for the real Queen of Hearts! ;) The rules totally make sense...there are some sick people out there that would do anything to a child..at least this makes Disney a little safer..

Why would a couple in bride and groom clothes get stampeded by children and adults? That makes no sense to me at all. I don't know any characters that are dressed in wedding gear. Plus my friend got married at Disney last May and they were both allowed to wander the park before our VIP Illuminations part in their wedding clothes. No crazy 'fans'... just people parting the way for us clapping and cheering them on. Saw it first hand myself.

I understand that people in Disney clothes causes a safety issue... that's the sad part.

WDW parks only restrict adults from wearing Disney costumes.

From the Official Walt Disney World Website:
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/theme-parks/#subCategory7

Attire that is not appropriate for the theme parks (and which may result in refusal of admittance) includes but is not limited to:

* Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as representative of an actual Disney character
* Masks (unless you are dressing up for a particular event)
* Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics
* Excessively torn clothing
* Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment
* Objectionable tattoos

A Guest is allowed into the parks if her or his hair (or make-up, if applicable) has been made to resemble a Disney Princess or character (for example, after a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeover) provided the Guest is not also wearing a costume or clothed to look like the character.
