We were originally driving to WDW, planning on arriving in the late afternoon, checking into AKL (std) on Saturday, Feb 19. On Monday, we will 'recheck' into AKL concierge, more than likely changing our rooms. On Tuesday, we will be checking out AGAIN, and then finally checking into Ft W cabins, staying THERE until the 26th. However, we just booked round-trip tix via Spirit, which leaves on SUNDAY, Feb 20 (arriving around 10PM) and returns at 7:30AM on 2/26. Here's my question: since we are losing a whole day (probably checking in LATE on Sun eve.) to only have to RECHECK in for concierge the next morning, would it be too tacky to ask a CM manager if we could check into concierge THAT evening for a reduced price ( or something to that effect)?? What would YOU do??

I don't think it ever tacky to ever so kindly and politely ask for an upgrade. Explain your situation and ask if there would be any chance of upgrading for a reduced fee if there is availability in conceirge.

I do think it is tacky to demand or expect an upgrade. Manners make all the difference.

I agree with the above poster...a little kindness goes a long way.....I would definitely ask...the worst they can say is no...if that is the case, would you consider staying someplace offsite, near the airport, since your flight does not arrive until 10pm it could be midnight before you are settled at AKL. I would not want to have to get up the next morning and have to switch rooms. By staying offsite you'd likely save some money too. Just a thought...good luck with your decison.

Since you are no longer having to pay for Saturday night, you should easily be able to shift that $$ to pay for concierge level beginning on Sunday night. If it was me, when I called to cancel the Saturday night, I would then add the concierge for Sunday night.

Sure, of course you can ask when you arrive on Sunday, it's not "tacky" at all--but it might not happen--it might, but it might not. Re-checking in in the morning won't be any hassle at all, so no worries either way. Your choice to wait and take your chances of being "denied" your request, or reserve what you want to do in the first place.

Are you planning on doing this when you arrive that night, or in advance. If you do it when you arrive, and they have a room open that is not being used then I would say they might do it for. If you are asking in advance and you are wanting them to hold this room for you, I doubt they will do it. As this would be the same as someone wanting them to give them this room at a discount regardless of what time you arrive. If they give you the room in advance at a discounted rate they lose the option of booking it to someone at a nondiscounted rate. Hope that makes sense.

I don't think it would be tacky to ask, but I don't think they will do it advance of your arrival. Concierge is very popular at AKL and usually stays pretty full.

I'd be too embarrassed to even ask. Instead, I'd just stay somewhere near the airport that first night and check in to the AKL conceirge bright & early the next day.

Best wishes-

I think Sammie summed it up extremely well. Disney has actually been known to offer people discounts on concierge upon check in, if the concierge rooms at the hotel in question are not filled up at that time. Like if a family checks in for 4 days, and they have a concierge room available for 4 days, they will ask if the family would like to upgrade for an extra $25-$50 a night. Disney, and any buisness, would rather make some money on a room rather than none at all, so theres no harm in asking at all when you go to check in on Sunday night. However, I seriously doubt they would do it beforehand, but as others said, there is no harm whatsoever in asking, so its worth a shot. But if they have a concierge room open the sunday night you check in, they would probably allow you a discount on it. Good luck!

...the input, guys! As far as staying at an off-site location, I don't forsee that as a viable option, since we won't have a car to get around. I'd just as soon arrive at MCO, get our luggage, and arrive at AKL and just 'be there' already, rather than being off-site and getting up early to check in at AKL concierge the next morning....it's not so much the 'money issue'; I just can't justify paying $300 more for that 1st night [booking concierge] when we won't really be there for that Sunday to take advantage of all its offerings....any other opinions???

We do this when we have a late night flight - Check into an airport hotel via priceline.

We use the FREE Shuttle to the hotel (they all seem to provide this service) and the following morning - my husband takes the shuttle back to the airport to pick up the rental car. This idea could get you back to the airport to pick-up your original transportation method to AKL.

Good Luck on whatever you decide.

For your first night there I would check-in ask about availability at concierge if they they let you upgrade great, if not have one bag with just what you'll need for the night and next morning.(your only talking about sleeping) Don't even open your other luggage, stay in your non-concierge room then at 7:00 am go and check-in to your new concierge room. You can then visit the Concierge floor have breakfast and enjoy the service all day...you can either go ahead and check-out early if you want to get to the parks or go back to your non-concierge room check-out is 11:00am.

Have fun

Kimmar,

We are checking into the cabins on the same day that you are! I can't wait..It is our first time at the cabins. Have you made any requests for location?

Have a wonderful trip, and definitely ask about the possbilitiy of an upgade.
