Is this too much to pay for WL Concierge?

When my DH decided he wanted to switch over from Poly Lagoon view to WL (how annoying after 3 months of planning and getting up at 6am to get codes attached to our stay), they no longer had any woods or courtyard view rooms available at WL with my Sept mail code or with AZZ, but they did have concierge available for $260 plus tax. DH wanted courtyard view and I could get that with AAA for $210 plus tax. For the $50 more it seemed concierge would be worth it for convenience with our DD 4 and DS2 and for not having to mess with breakfast in the morning. But since most people seem to stay at WL for around $150 plus tax, this is driving me crazy. . .(mostly because if he had just made his mind up when I asked him months ago--or even if he'd decided 2 weeks ago before AZZ came out, I wouldn't be dealing with this stress)

Forgive me--I just needed to vent

Anyway. . .

We have stayed Poly Lagoon view concierge in the past for a special first time trip for the family and that was wonderful, but I have heard that WL's concierge isn't as good.

Please tell me what you would do. I can't decide if I am wasting money or not.

I'm not sure if that is a decent price or not, so I'm no help there. How many nights are you staying? If it's 4 or more you might want to consider spitting your stay. That way you could enjoy the Poly rates that you worked so hard to get, but also stay at WL and be pampered in concierge. Just a thought...

Thanks Tigger&Belle---I am spending 5 nights at WL and then going to Yacht Club for 4 nights Water view (I do have my rate for this)--so I don't think we need to worry about splitting with Poly. We did Poly in Dec. and it was wonderful and for 3 months my husband insisted on going back there. Then, all of a sudden, he looks at the pictures I had sent him of WL and changes his mind. It turns out that the Poly Lagoon view is still $40 more a night than the WL concierge.

Hi-

I can't help with the rate question- although it sounds pretty good for Concierge.

You might want to post your question on the FAQ WL thread as there is a regular poster (Majestic) who who has stayed at WL Concierge multiple times and recently stayed at the Poly Concierge and really missed the WL. He said Poly Concierge was OK but not the same as the WL. So in other words, he would totally disagree with what you have heard that WL concierge isn't as good.

Personally I love the WL (after only one stay)- everything is under one roof and the boat access to the MK is very relaxing. I would think that WL Concierge would be perfect- especially with two small children. Majestic has a daughter around the age of your kids and really appreciated the Concierge offerings.

As to saving money- I think you would have savings right off the bat if you plan on eating the Concierge breakfast every morning- sure beats a table restaruant breakfast for four I would think!

Good luck! You'll have a great trip where ever you stay!

Hello campinggal :

The boat access to mk did you happen to notice if the boat has room for a wheelchair/ecv?

I loved the pictures of the wl ....

Hi-

Yes, the boat that goes to the MK is fairly large (not as large as the boat that goes from the TTC to MK) and would accomodate a wheelchair/ecv. Although I have read that if the water in Bay Lake is particularly low for what ever reason, then it might not work allow for a wheelchair/ecv to be wheeled on board.

Best is to confirm with the CMs at the front desk when you arrive.

I also seem to remember other saying that they use some sort of ramp thing to help out.

Sorry to be vague but best to confirm upon arrival- things with Disney are subject change.

I would find it hard to pay that rate knowing people who paid $179 plus tax last year. Also, the 7th floor concierge rooms have balconies that are enclosed, I believe. They are not made of wooden slats that you can look through like the other floors.

You could play it safe and reserve the concierge room, but keep calling back for a courtyard room. Or you could take a chance and reserve standard with the code, and offer to pay for concierge or courtyard at check-in. I've read people have been able to pay $40 more for concierge, which would be a significant savings. The only downside is that concierge or the courtyard might not be available.

Good luck!

$260 is a good price for WL Concierge. Just request a concierge courtyard view room.

I think it's worth the $50 extra. You'll have breakfast and evening offerings that are very nice. Also, there are snacks out in the afternoon and desserts and cordials in the evening.

You can get soda, juice and chocolate milk just by asking without having to run down to the snack area to grab it.

I'd go for it.

We've stayed a few times. Last trip, we stayed in 7042 (queen and bunks with an awesome view of Wishes and the castle, the Yosemit Suite and 7117 (courtyard view.)

We loved each room. Each view was special.

That rate is much less than what we paid last November for WL Concierge (with a discount). I would take it. This year we are staying at Poly Concierge for much more, but we are excited. We loved the WL Concierge.

I have to thank you guys for all your posts even though this wasn't my question. I was starting to 2nd guess the concierge rate at WL (we got it for $260 with that email code for early Dec). But I feel better now, knowing that it is infact a good rate. This is my first time in a Deluxe so some of the pricing is a bit scary to me.

Gotta love these boards!

I'd say that's an okay rate for WL Concierge. At this point, I think you're best bet is just have it booked, relax, and enjoy your trip! Hey, look at how much you are saving compared to rack rate! ;)

We stayed WL Concierge last August. We were offered the upgrade for $70 a night more. But we really missed out on them planning our PSs because by then everything except the basics were full.
This was exactly the view we had. It was beautiful.

The main difference I've read about is that WL doesn't offer a lounge like Poly does. You will get tables and chairs but thats about it. Here's a picture

Thing that freaked me out a bit is the other side of the railing is looking down onto the lobby (I admit I'm somewhat afraid of heights):o .

But we did enjoy staying. I guess I'll know more in Sept when we stay at the Poly. This time I booked it for concierge and they have helped me with dining. Except CRT. I was able to get that myself :teeth:

Floridafam and Disney Wisher thank you so much for all the info. The view looks great. Disney Wisher, I too, already have my PSs planned, so it won't help there. But even when I had the opportunity for Poly Concierge to book for me last year I was such a control freak that I called for CRTs as well, and i had to end up cancelling one.

Jen117 and Disney Wisher have a great time at the Poly Concierge. They were wonderful to us and our two children and placed gifts in the room at night for us. It added to the magic of our first family trip to WDW. You will have a great time.

Thanks to everyone, I am really looking forward to our stay at WL.

I am not sure the $50 or $60 per is worth the concierge offerings. We got the WL courtyard for $150/night including tax. We are not usually in the hotel/room in the evening to take advantage of the evening offerings, and our family of 7 can get a full sit down breakfast at WC for $70 with tax and tip. I would think your family of 4, and one 2 (who eats free at buffets and can share off the adult or childrens plates) would be able to eat breakfast a lot less than that. I like my kids to start the busy day with a hearty breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast, etc.).

On the other hand, if you are going to be at the hotel alot, the concierge would be great choice.

Just my opinion.

People with power wheelchairs, ecvs (electric mobility scooters) or people who are not able to get out of their wheelchair and step onto the boat are sometimes not able to ride the WL boats. This is because when the water level is either very high or very low compared to the dock, the boat floats too high or too low compared to the dock to drive a wheelchair or ecv on. They do have a ramp and the CMs have some creative ways to make the boat and dock level. (Like if they need to have the boat lower, they will load everyone onto the boat before loading the ecv/wheelchair. The weight of all the people puts the boat lower in the water). But, there are times that no matter what they do, the gap is too large.
When we stayed at VWL with DD who uses a manual wheelchair, we were able to lift her in her wheelchair (she's pretty light) onto the boat. If wwe had not been able to do that, we would have taken the bus to the TTC and then the monorail or MK boat over to the MK.

OK well I haven't read most of this thread and I don't know if you have an ap but i just got wl coutyard 137-- a night with code ewk. You mightwant to invest in an ap even for a child maybe if the rae is better.

You got a great rate for WL concierge. If you eat breakfast in the lounge everyday and a few snacks, it will almost pay for itself. Rack rate for the Poly/AKL/etc concierge is over $400.

We upgraded on check-in in February and paid $185 per night ($60 over woods view with an AP). Don't depend that this will happen, however. On the weekends the concierge level is usually booked solid. For me it was worth every penny. DH ended up being sick with an earache and we ended up taking things slower than usual. The lounge is beautiful and peaceful with its 7th floor view (I'm not afraid of heights).:smooth:

Thanks everyone. We are AP holders and I was able to get the $137 courtyard rate too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:teeth: :teeth:

Absolutely no more stressing!:Pinkbounc Hooray!:bounce: :bounce:
