Is this timing OK?

We arrive next Friday around 1:20 PM from Canada, pre-clear customs before we leave and are staying at AKL. I have a reservation at Teppan Edo for Eat to the Beat for five. Is this too tight a time-line? I plan to use the yellow Disney tag for my checked luggage so can go straight to the DME when we arrive. It is the only time available.

It would be too tight for me, but I don't like having to start a trip rushing or under time constraints. With that said, if you do not experience any travel delays you should be fine.

I allow 90 minutes to get to the resort, and 60 minutes to get to parks. Most folks say give yourself at least 3 hours between wheels down and your first ADR, so barring any delay you should be okay.

We never book a TS ADR any sooner than 5 hours after our scheduled arrival. Travel day is full of unplanned, uncontrollable delays. And if you miss your ADR you will be subject to the $10/person No Show Fee.
Everything would have to work perfectly. I agree it is 90 minutes, on average, to the resort on DME. That makes it close to 3. If you have carry ons, you need to either drop them in your room if it is ready, or leave them with Bell Services.
You need to wait for an Epcot bus. It could be right away or it could be a while. You need to ride to Epcot.
You need to go through bag check which takes a while, security and then get in line to enter the park.
Once inside you need to walk all through Future World and to nearly the opposite side of World Showcase to reach the restaurant.
It would be too stressful for me.
Good Luck

Agree with others, while it sounds like plenty of time you have no idea what will happen. You may be able to find a later ADR as the date gets closer. We've only ever booked Teppan Edo at the last minute and availability tends to be plentiful. We also had success on our last trip adjusting ADR times the day of. This may work for you if something comes open

As PP mentioned, keep trying to change your ADR time to later to make you less rushed. Many times things open in the last week, and even night before, as people adjust final plans, and will cancel night before to avoid getting charged. You can also check the Nov. cancellation thread on the Dining Forum to see if anything pops up there. If you cannot get a better time, you might consider an Uber/taxi to Beach Club resort, where you can walk into Epcot at International Gateway to save time, since Japan is close, rather than waiting for bus and then walking all the way from FW. You will have to check out the cost to see if it is worth it. At least it is an option to have in mind if you aren't able to change your time, or have any delays at airports.

Thanks. I cancelled my ressie partly because I saw the cost converted into Canadian dollars and it was around $100.00 each, but also as a result of your suggestions. I was fortunate to get another just after seven o'clock pm so a much better time. Maybe we can see the concert without having the special ticket.

I help a lot family and friends when they are planning to visit Mickey and the Gang.. The one thing that a lot of my family and friends don't realize is the real time factor, and what amount of time it really takes to get to were your going.

For instance some extended family is coming for their 1st visit to WDW the week of Christmas, its 12 people including the kiddos. They land at around 2:30 and she wanted to make ADR's for SCI-Fi for dinner at 5:00

So I had to go through the whole process... landing time is when the wheels hit the tarmac, not when you get to the gate, then wait to unload, then everyone will most likely need a restroom break with 12 people most of them being kids its never easy, then luggage and waiting for DME, the ride to WDW itself, during Christmas time...the traffic will be a nightmare, then getting to the their resort, she thought they would just go straight to their resort. Once she got over that, there is the check-in process with 12 plus all the other guest trying to check-in... not just a simple task. Figuring out where your room is and waiting on bags... Also garden grocer will be delivering... plus stroller rentals.... So quite a lot going on... She talked with everyone and they decided on the QS route..

Also I do have a question she wants to take their own bags to the resort room, and not have them delivered... You can do this right?

Yes. They just leave the yellow DME tags off.

Thank you for the info... I passed it along to her..

Is there a reason they want to drag their bags with them to the resort? It is really convenient to just skip over to DME and hop on board, hands free, so to speak.

Not sure why, she just wants to get them and take them to DME herself... and then once checked in at resort take them to the room themselves. So really not sure... It would seem that it would make it easier, with the carry on's and kiddos for me it would be a no brainer.. But she really wants to do it this way... to each his own.
