Is this the best I could do? re: National

We rented a mini-van from National using code DWEB @ 39.99 a day for 2 days....July 11 and 12. We added on an additional driver....$7 each day = $14. We don't require any additional insurance.

Our grand total in $CAD.......... $141.89.

I tried to combine other codes with it, but it didn't change my quote. Is there anything I could do differently?

If you were a Emerald member, you might be able to knock off the additional driver fee, (if it is a spouse of life partner only?)

I am SICK that I can't get a decent rate with National for August, 6 weeks from now. I am SO bummed, but I can't pay over $500 for a weekly minivan rental.

Actually, the primary driver will be my DH and the additional is a friend who is travelling with us. I think we're stuck with the fee. The real bummer is the exchange rate!

Yes, there is. go to www.mousesavers.com click on the link to join Emerald Club for free. That eliminates the cost of the second driver IF the driver is your spouse, life partner, child living with you and a few other instances, it is covered in the Emerald Club rules.
Second, try using the 6600330 code and get rid of the DWEB code, see what happens if you let National assign the code.
Third, look at the mousesavers site and see if there is a coupon somewhere that you can use.

I 've tried the 6600330 and no luck...as for emerald club for additional driver...it won't work for me, as I explained to PatMcduck in this thread:

I think, don't quote me, but if the additional driver is an EC member there is no charge. You might want to call and ask.
