I just moved to this city about a year ago to be with my fiance and I have no family here.... my fiance has two sisters who are older than me (in their 40's and 50's) and I have made a couple of girlfriends here in town but no one REALLLY close..

would it be tacky to ask someone to throw me a bridal shower? I just really would love to get together with the girls for games and drinks and gifts :thumbsup2 (lol) and just to have a good time.. but I don't want to have to ask someone to throw a party for me really... but it may be the only way if I want one.

or could I throw a bridal shower for myself? :confused3

Could you talk to your DF, about how much you would love one? Maybe he can hint to his sisters? I am actully having one when we get to Florida, because alot of important ladies to me will be there.

you could just invite them around for a girly day, chances are they'll guess its probably a bridal shower anyway!

I agree-- a lot of people are even doing co-ed showers now days. Maybe you all could invite people over for a "pre-wedding celebration" with food and whatnot. If I was invited to one I would bring a gift, ya know what Im saying? Or maybe when peopel see that you are doing that for yourself they may think that you are eager to celebrate and go ahead and throw you another?

I agree with the above posts

Just make it a get together with a theme(DFTW)

I never had a bridal shower or bachorlette party & its a bummer, but really It wasnt the end of the world.
Just have a gathering & make the best of it...you never know, someone might surprise you, but if nothing happens just remember you still have that amazing wedding coming up;)

I agree with the above posts. Either have a pre-wedding, co-ed party, or get your fiance to hint to his sisters that it might be nice for them to host a party since you don't know too many people. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable approaching someone to throw me a party, but it is up to you! It's your wedding, you're allowed to have all the fun that goes with getting married!
