If you saw this, would it be "so rude" to you?

I was just at the grocery store (Kroger) for a quick trip. All I needed was milk, so I happened to follow a woman down the closest aisle to the back coolers.

Down at the end of the aisle was a worker on her hands and knees obviously having a hard time, something to do with the bottom shelf.

The woman's pants had fallen down below her waist, and she had a case of "plumber's butt", only it wasn't BUTT that you could see, but rather, her underwear strap. She had on a thong.

As the woman in front of me passed, she shouted, "That is SO RUDE, thank you very much!"

The worker looked up like, "What?" She was obviously unaware she was "showing".

When I turned the corner, the woman who made the comment shook her head at me and did a little "tsk".

I thought nothing of it. She was struggling, she wasn't trying to "show her stuff", it was just what happened.

No, but my mother would probably think so, as would my MIL. Was the lady older?

I do think it's tacky to not cover yourself up (though, like you said, she didn't know), but I don't think it's rude.

Eh, whale tail doesn't bother me. :confused3 It's not very PROFESSIONAL if it's an employee, but it's certainly not RUDE in any way. The lady needed to get over it.

The real problem is that so few people seem to know the meaning of the word Rude. Rude is when you intentionally do something to upset, displace or insult someone.

Although this is "unfortunate" it is hardly rude unless the woman had pulled her pants down, pointed her butt at the other woman and said...here take that. And there are others that seem to go out of there way to be offended by everything and everybody...those people are the rude ones.

$5 says the woman in front of you was FAT, and she was just jealous cause she can't wear thongs without them getting lost!

I never realized it had a name! Shall I edit my OP??? :rotfl:

I'm a guy, so I wouldn't find it rude. I would be rather intrigued. Especially if she was a good looking gal. :lmao: I hope DW don't see this post. :rolleyes1

I worked in a grocery store, and unfortunately it happens every now and then. In all seriousness I wouldn't find it rude. Especially if the person isn't doing it intentionally. I might give the worker a little tap on the shoulder and give him/her a little heads up.

Wait.... Who are we talking about being rude? The lady in front of you that made the rude comment or the girl unintentionally showing tail?

If anything the lady who made the "rude" comment is in one who comes off as rude! IMO! ;)

I'm talking about the girl with Whale Tail. ;) Was SHE rude? The other lady is just pRUDE.

Whale tail is disgusting in a grocery store or a restaurant but not rude.

I don't think rude is the right word. Unacceptable is more like it. No worker should ever be showing that much of her anatomy or underwear on the job.
she should not wear pants that are that low if she will be expected to do physical things. or should have an apron or jacket or something to put on and cover herself.

It obviously was bothering a customer and that is not good for the store.

I wouldn't think it was rude but are you not aware when your clothes are riding or dragging into awkward places? I sure am.

The lady who made the loud, obnoxious comment was incredibly rude. The polite thing to do, would have been to tap her on the shoulder and whisper with a proper amount of sympathy, "Honey, I don't want you to feel embarrassed, but your thong is showing!"

Then, if the girl indicated that she fully intended to reveal her plumber's crack to one and all, a concerned word with the manager would have been in order. Can't have the staff frightening little old ladies, after all. In all likelihood, however, the girl would have just hiked up her pants and said, "Thank you!"

I don't think it is rude because it was an accident. What WAS rude was the woman making a huge big deal about it and embarrassing the poor woman who didn't even realize she was doing anything wrong.

And as for professional well how much professionalism do you really expect when you shop at supermarkets. Not that it should be that way, but seriously. One time I stopped in a grocery and the check out lady began telling me how much her feet hurt and then started in about various medical problems. When she was finally done with my groceries she began bagging them because they didn't have a separate person bagging, and she then complained about how she wasn't even supposed to be at work today but someone didn't show up and the boss needed her. :sad2:

I don't think it was rude because it doesn't sound like it was intentional, but at the same time I don't particularly want to see it. I wouldn't have said anything. I would have just tried to ignore it.

so, Captain Hindend, you are suggesting that the commenting woman is #1 fat, #2 jealous and #3 loses her underwear (to her anatomy?)

And to the OP, maybe the commenting woman wasn't referring to the thong situation?
But if she was, clearly she was offended, but I don't think thong girl was rude.
Personally, I think thong underwear is weird. Thong wearers should try white cotton briefs. They are, by far, less offensive and healthier anyway... then everyone will be happy.

White cotton briefs = decrease in visits to the ER and world peace. :flower3:
