About 6 weeks ago, I reserved a room at PBH for 2 nights through Loew's. This month I had a charge for one of the nights on my charge card -is that to hold my reservation?

Yes, they charge 1 nights deposit for all reservations.

They did for my March reservation, but not for my May one. When I called to check, they confirmed that they had my May reservation, but that they don't always charge a deposit. Strange way to run a business if you ask me! Sometimes charge a deposit and sometimes not. :confused3

But, my understanding when I made the reservation was that they WOULD charge 1 night deposit.

It has been my experience that if you book online they do NOT charge the deposit, but if you call they do.

Thanks all! It just seemed strange that my credit card was charged several months after I had made my reservation, and that I wasn't told on the phone that I would be charged for one night. I guess I'll just bring my credit card statement along when I check in - just in case there are any problems.

I called for both reservations. One had a deposit charged within a few days. The other one hasn't had a deposit charged yet, and it's been about a month. Guess I shouldn't be surprised if a deposit shows up sometime between now & the trip! Highly unorganized and inconsistent! Sounds like Disney! (Which I love, but trying to get a straight, consistent answer to a question is nearly impossible.) LOL! :rotfl2:

I booked on line last week and the depo was on my statement the next day:surfweb:

I booked my room at RPR in Jan and they still haven't taken out the deposit and they told me not to worry it would be taken out and only got my email confirm a few days ago.

I think this has changed just a bit since the system upgrade earlier this year.

While I have never had an online booking charged the deposit previously, my last two online bookings, after the database upgrade, have indeed had my card charged.

Others have also reported on here that their cards were charged for an online booking.

So, I wouldn't count on not being charged if you make your reservations online. :sad1:

I wasn't charged in advance at either Royal Pacific or Portofino this last vacation and I phoned in my reservation.

I havent been charged a deposit for my uncoming trip at RPR. I made the reservation through the AAA website and I'm sure it said I would be charged one nights stay for a deposit. When I realized my credit card hadn't been charged, I called Loews to make sure the reservation was OK. They told me it was, and that no deposit was required.:confused3

It took almost 2 months to show the charge on credit card. Now when do we pay the other night - after checkout?
