I was quoted $770 per night to make a cash ressie for a BWV 1 bedroom! That is without the discount. If I book through CRO it is only $480 w/o taxes. That is highway robbery!! Was I quoted wrong or are the cash prices really that out of whack?

I don't understand your post at all. WHO quoted you $770? And for how many nights?

Oh sorry, MS quoted me that price and it is per night for 2 nights. A Fri. and a Sat.. This is in conjunction with a points stay.

Are you sure that isn't the rate for two nights WITH the DVC discount? The $770 figure is petty close to 75% of your CRO rate x2.

What dates are you booking? Cash resorts have 4 different seasons.

Here are the LIST/RACK rates for 2006
BoardWalk Villas (add 12.5% tax)

1-Bedroom Villa

Value $410

Regular $465

Peak $540

Holiday $605

These are for 2007

1-Bedroom Villa
Value $425
Reg $480
Peak $560
Holiday $625

Thank you all. I called back and was told that price is total. Not per night. The cm at MS said it happens frequently, that cm's tell guests the price is per night and not length of stay. Just a little oops. Almost gave me a heart attack though.

But that is not the total for 2 nights. It should be $960.
That is what I am thinking too. I have not made the ressie yet-still have to talk to DH. But the $770 would be with the 25% DVC discount. They have really confused me know!

ok, the saga has ended. I called back and spoke with Lynette. Very wonderful woman!! Booked our cash end of ressie for $360+ tax. per night. Much better! We had a good laugh because I told her of all the other quotes I received and about almost having a heart attack at my desk. Now I am sitting here wondering why this was so complicated. Maybe it was just me. Oh well.

Hopefully this isn't too dumb a question, but what DVC discount are we discussing? Do we DVC members get a 25% discount on rooms? If so, what restrictions are there & is there a separate number we need to call? Or can we reserve online? Thanks in advance.

As far as I understand, yes you're correct it is a 25% discount on DVC resort rooms, not so at say GF or CSR. There usually are rooms available at the discounted rate, sometimes there isn't. Some DVC accommodations types aren't available w/member cash, for example BWV boardwalk view rooms. You need to call member services, online cash not available as far as I know.

You don't have to pay a deposit before arrival, you pay the total amount upon check-in.

The discount is a flat 25% off of rack rates at the DVC properties only. It must be booked thought DVC.

The discount is ONLY offered when / if DVC projects that it will not be able to rent out all of the rooms to members staying on points. So, during high demand periods there is no chance of getting the cash discount no matter how early you call. It's much easier to get on the weekends due to the higher point requirements.

Housekeeping follows the DVC schedule with this discounted rate. You do not get daily service.

Also members can only book one room at a time under the discount rate. AFAIK, the rule formally states that the member must be staying in a room which is booked under the cash discount (which explains the limit of one room per night), but lately I've seen reports of DVC being a little lax on the member residency issue. Actual experiences may vary.

Payment is made at check-in and I believe cancellations must be made 5 days in advance. 12.5% tax is added to the nightly rate.
